“Okay, get out.”

“Pres—”

“You want to earn my trust, Lennon, it’s going to take more than a couple of orgasms.”

“What can I do?”

“Prove to me you can do something I know you don’t want to do.”

“Like?”

“How do you feel about murder?” she asked me, pulling herself up out of the tub. She stood, naked in front of me and I had to stop myself from reaching out and pulling her back into the tub and onto my hard cock.

“Who?” I asked, wanting to win her over.

“The wise men.”

I gasped, not sure I heard right. She wanted to take out the wise men?

“They are challenging me for the seat,” she said. “I don’t want competition, and if they go, then I’ll have a good shot at taking the others out. Do this and I’ll talk to you about joining me.”

“Consider it done,” I told her and watched as she grabbed a robe and walked out of the bathroom, leaving me to wonder how the hell I was going to kill the men who helped me out of certain death when I was a kid.

Presley

“Who was that guy leaving the chateau last night?” York asked me as I sat down at the dining table. He’d cooked up a wicked breakfast as he always did, believing it was important to eat a full breakfast before you did anything for the day.

“Lennon Fulton.”

“As in the Lennon from your torture with Ebony?” he asked.

“Yes.”

I’d hated Ebony for using that piece of information against me for years, making me believe he was dead, and it was all my fault. For years I had cried over him, and grieved over him and when I found out he was still alive, days before I returned, I wanted to burn Ebony alive, but she made me realise I’d needed it to turn into who I am now.

“Is he going to be a problem?” York asked, a stern look on his face.

“I’m making sure he won’t be.”

He nodded and continued eating his breakfast. I thought about the request I’d made of him. It wouldn’t be easy for him because I knew they had once been close to him. If he did pull it off, maybe I could trust him. I didn’t understand why he wanted to be on my side after what I did, but time would tell. The decision for the seat was going to be made soon and I needed to focus on that. Wilder was still in town, which meant he was more than happy to put his father’s name down. At least I’d taken care of Tannis. He would have been the most obvious choice. And now Deacon was going to be needing some heat.

“Jett and Ebony will return to the US after the decision is made, and I will be too.”

That surprised me. “So soon?”

“I have to go back, Presley. You have this, you just need to make better choices about trusting people. You need more than one on your side.”

This would be the first time York wouldn’t be in my life for the last ten years. He’d helped me through everything, and him being gone would be a shock.

“I don’t trust many, they all knew where I was and did nothing.”

“Surely there is someone you trust.”

I thought about my brother Chance rotting away in prison. He’d been the only one I could trust with my secrets growing up. Would he be changed now?

“There is someone.”

“Just one?”
