Jett had told me about him. He’d been one of the few at the table until he’d dug his heels in the sex trafficking trade and had been kicked away. Cordell had been getting a bit of a following from very powerful men last I heard, and as a matter of fact, funded Wilder’s little sex ring. He was on my list of men to eliminate, but I just hadn’t gotten there yet.
“No…”
“Afraid so, Rudie. He’s going to love this body. You’ll earn him some hard cash.”
“Now…stand up.”
Rudie didn’t move, her shaking was getting worse, but I was close. I knew I was close to figuring out whether she would give me up or if she was faithful.
Hendrix stood and grabbed her hair, yanking her up against the wall. “Now…smile.”
Hendrix proceeded to take out his phone and snap pictures of her trying to cover up. When she tried to cover her face, he slapped her hard, her head shooting to the side.
“Smile, I said.”
Rudie looked back at him and tried to smile although a little blood trickled out. Hendrix snapped that one with a chuckle and moved around the little room again as Rudie slid down to the floor.
“You do love sex,” Hendrix said, pocketing his phone. “You’ll love it even more now…multiple men a day.”
“Get her out.”
Pierce and Caelan opened the door and flung Hendrix backward, quickly grabbing Rudie and locking the door again before Hendrix could recover.
“You work for me!” he yelled at the door, trying to wriggle it free. That’s when he turned on the mirror and tried to peer through it. “A trap, is it? Do you have any idea who I am or what I’m capable of doing?”
Hadrian and Chance moved out of the room to help Rudie, leaving just me and Lennon. “Turn on the screen so he can see us.”
Lennon flicked the switch and Hendrix’s eyes widened. I flicked the intercom speaker on and smirked back at him.
“Did you really think I was going to let you run wild in my city?” I asked him.
“This is my city,” he yelled, coming up close to the glass. “You should never have come back, Pressie.”
“No…Hendrix, it’s you who should never have come back.”
“And you,” Hendrix aimed at Lennon. “You betrayed me after all I did for you?”
“You knew it would always be Presley, not you,” Lennon replied.
I motioned for Lennon to leave me alone and he did without hesitation. Turning back to Hendrix, I leaned in really close.
“I want you to know this could have been all different, we could have ruled over Australia, you in Queensland, me here, but you got greedy and tried to kill me. So, let me offer you that same treatment only I’m a little disturbed now after everything I’ve been through so…forgive me but I thought this was too good to give up.”
“What?”
“Your death, of course.”
“What the hell are you talking about?”
“Do you fear anything, brother?” I asked, clicking the button that would open the vents. He turned around to see the vents pop open, and the red-bellied black snakes drop down into the room. Hendrix froze, before jumping on the table.
“Get me out of here!”
“No, no,” I said. “I think this is just, and quite honestly, I’ve never been so proud of an achievement in my life.”
“You’re killing your own brother.”
“I don’t care,” I said through grit teeth. “Now…you do realize if you kick them, they’ll get angrier and come at you faster. So, enjoy your last few hours of your life.”
