I parked the car outside the gates of Raven’s Nest chateau, the ludicrously named manor Gideon had taken over when Sonora’s father stepped down. Honestly, why would anyone call their house Raven’s Nest? I always hated this house, I hated the driveway and how open it was, and I hated those iron gates. I also hated that I wasn’t able to just walk in and tell Presley I didn’t blame her, that I knew she only did it because she had to, and then I’d pull her into my arms and kiss the living hell out of her. I’d waited a decade for this and yet here I sat, watching.

No, now wasn’t the best time. Especially not at the house where I knew she’d have people watching her every move. We needed to be on neutral ground or when I knew she was alone in there. I took off, disappearing from view and I headed to the closest bar.

It was amazing what a woman could do to you. Ten years and I still wanted her, as much as I did back then. I could still remember how she smelled, that sweet scent that filled my nostrils and turned me into an animal, needing to claim her. Did she still wear the same perfume?

My phone dinged in my pocket just as I got handed a beer and I pulled it free.

Hendrix:Update?

Lennon:I’m here. Place is too busy, I’ll head back when everyone leaves.

Hendrix: Anyone I know?

Lennon:I saw a couple of the olds, but main guy you need to worry about is Tannis.

Hendrix: Take him out.

With an order like that, I knew he was planning on heading down here, probably with Rudie in tow.Just what I needed.Waiting for neutral territory was going to be hard. I needed to find Pres as soon as possible and get her to listen to me.

Presley was going to be mine again, it was just a matter of time before she could accept it. The thought of her being in my line of sight again brought chills to me. I needed to do something, I needed a shower at the very least.

I asked the bartender for a cheap place to lay low and he directed me to theGolden Innjust down the road from the chateau. Perfect.

Draining the last of my drink, I headed back to my car and took off. Once I checked in using my grandfather’s name, Caleb Prentiss,I chucked my gun on the bed and undressed. A hot shower was going to do wonders for my skin right now.

As I let the hot water course down over me, I thought of Presley’s hands roaming over my arms and back, her nails digging in and I was sold. Taking a firm grip of my cock, I pumped out the best damn release I’d had in years.

Chapter Four

Presley

“Smoke ‘em out,” I told Hadrian. He’d been reprieved of my mother for a few hours and was now helping me while York drove us. The kid looked exhausted, but he was more than willing to do my dirty work for me. I already loved the guy. He grabbed the fuel can and lighter and took off over to the house. He made quick work of it before running back to the car, and we watched as the house began to billow smoke, and I started to hear the screams from inside. It was just after midnight, most in the neighbourhood would be asleep by now, so I didn’t fear anyone coming to their aid any time soon. I was confident no one would call the cops; they all knew the hellfire that would come down on them if they did. Tannis had a reputation in this gated community. You kept your eyes shut here.

Tannis ran out of his house, coughing and spluttering. I felt an odd sense of happiness at seeing him so defenseless. His wife, Renee, ran out after him, clutching their two young children, shielding their eyes and mouths. I couldn’t help but shake my head. Tannis was always only trying to save his own skin.

Fucking pathetic. He couldn’t run the organization if he was such a coward.

York handed me the revolver and I watched as he huddled with his wife and children closer to the street, and they watched their house go up in flames. Renee cried into her hands, and her children sobbed.

Yet, I felt nothing but sorry for them. She obviously didn’t know what Tannis was like when she met him. She wasn’t organization material, more just a woman to carry on his genetic line.

Flames engulfed the door and the windows blew out as the fire raged on. No other tenants left their houses though, but I could sense their fear.

I pushed the door of the car open and headed his way, the revolver in my hand, by my side. He turned around and his face grew dark.

“What are you doing here?” he growled at me, putting on a show for his family behind him.

“Showing you what a true leader does,” I told him. “You aren’t good enough to take the seat.”

Renee was shielding her kids, knowing full well this wasn’t something they needed to see. A good mother…so they do exist after all.

“Please,” she sobbed. “Let me take them away.”

“I’m not a child killer,” I shot back at her, coldly. And I wasn’t. I had no reason to kill them. It wasn’t their fault who their father was.

“You just tried to burn them, you bitch,” Tannis spat.
