“No! Please don’t!” she pleads as she enters the room.

I look at her panicked face. “You want to save this fucking cunt? After everything he’s done to you?” I ask in disbelief.

“He doesn’t deserve to die. No one deserves that,” she states softly.

I sigh. “Well, that darlin’, is where you and I will have to disagree.” I crouch down to the parasite on the floor and hold my blade to his face. “It appears you had a good woman,” I snarl. His face is covered in blood and his eyes are wide with fear. “If you ever go near her or her kid again, I will show you just how creative I can be with this blade. Do I make myself clear?” I ask, threatening him.

“Yes,” he whimpers. “I will go and never come back,” he adds.

“No, you get to stay in this shit hole. It’s what you deserve. They will leave,” I correct him.

“We,” she begins to protest, but I hold up my finger halting her.

“Now, fuck off and don’t come back until tonight,” I bark before I stand and put my blade away. He gingerly scrambles to his feet and hobbles out of the apartment without even looking back. I smile and turn around to face her. She angrily storms towards me, wiping away her tears. “You don’t ne—” My words are cut off as her hand slaps across my face.

“You have just put me and my son out on the street. We could have stayed, and he could have gone. As long as we had a roof over our heads, we were fine,” she snaps.

I rub my cheek and flex my jaw. “Good hit. Shame you didn’t give him some of that back,” I comment.

She sighs. “I’m sorry. Thank you for seeing him off, but we don’t have the money.” I hold out my hand and she looks down at it. “What are you doing?” she asks, confused.

“I will find you and your boy a better place to live. I will find you a job,” I state.

Her eyes flicker back to my hand, all while anxiously nibbling on her bottom lip. “What is the catch?” she asks. “I won’t sleep with you,” she snaps.

I laugh. “Wow. I don’t think I’ve ever been rejected so fucking quick in my life. No catch, apart from you staying the fuck away from low life pricks like him.”

She frowns before placing her hand in mine and giving it a shake. “Okay, but I still have no idea why you are doing this.”

I gently squeeze her hand. “Darlin’, I don’t expect you to. Now, er?” I pause, waiting for her to tell me her name.

“Rhea,” She answers.

I nod. “Now Rhea, let’s pack your shit up and get out of here.”

CHAPTER ONE

ACID

“Why havethose guys got different patches?” Olly asks.

“They’re part of a different club,” I answer as I roll my bike to a stop outside the club. I keep my eyes firmly fixed on his mum and the mark on her face.

“Why are they here? Are they starting a war? Are you going to shoot each other?” he asks.

I look at him and frown. “Shut the fuck up, kid,” I sigh. “No war. No one is going to die,” I add. “Now get off my bike,” I order. He sighs and climbs off. Rhea stands next to him, placing a hand on his shoulder. I can tell she’s fighting back the tears. “Bambi!” I yell. The prospect quickly comes running over. “Take Olly down to my room and set up the console. No 18 certificate games,” I instruct.

“Oh man! But I’ve played them before. That shit is the bomb,” Olly whines.

“Oliver!” Rhea snaps.

“Sorry, Mom,” he sighs, apologising.

“Here.” Rhea pulls out a candy bar from her bag. “Just this once,” she says with a small smile. Olly snatches the candy bar then wraps his arms around her waist. Rhea’s face scrunches up in pain. “Go on, then,” she says, forcing a smile through her pain.

“Candy and gaming at a biker club late at night! Chad can kiss my bony ass!” Olly shouts as he follows Bambi into the club.

“Oliver!” Rhea yells after him.
