With all my heart,

Delilah

Ripping the note out of the notebook, I lay it on the bed before snagging one of his shirts and trudging down the stairs. I find a place in the garden and try to focus on what I’m writing, hoping he’ll show up soon.

The Bird Flies The Coop

TAURUS

Using everything I have in me, I throw up the most secure wall I’ve ever created.

For the first time in a year, I even shut the golden goddess out. I’m enraged, ripped apart, and cast down. After the shit yesterday, I thought we had an understanding about honesty and truthfulness between us. A part of me is mad at myself for storming off, but it was either that or rip the bedroom apart with my bare hands. I chose separation instead.

Maybe I am evolving? Who knows.

Stalking back and forth in the bathroom, I let the decimation in my soul run rampant. I hear movement out in the bedroom—I’m not sure what she’s doing, but I can’t find it in me to care. She did this to herself and she’s going to have to live with it. She had so many chances to tell me the truth—why didn’t she? I thought she understood that honesty is a paramount issue for me, but apparently, I was wrong.

I roar my pain into the air as I let my demon take over completely. That makes the rage and hurt so much worse. Fully fanged out, I slide fingertips in the gap between the door andwall and yank. It rips the steel to shreds, slices my hands wide open, and opens a space that I can escape through.

The paper on the bed catches my eye and I stalk over to read it.

The demon is raging in a way that I’ve never felt before, so her words mean nothing. Stalking to the closet, I head to the very back and pull out worn black jeans and a black tee shirt that has seen better decades. I throw them on, dripping blood from my palms. After I shove my feet into old combat boots, I head to the bed. Grabbing a pencil in my mangled hand with a wince, I pick up the pad she left to write my own blood-stained note.

When I finish, I jerk open the nightstand drawer, taking out the emergency dagger I keep there. I wrap my fingers around it, pick up the bloody paper, and stalk back to the bathroom door. With a quick move, I embed the dagger in the door frame, impaling the note to hold it in place.

With a final feral, pain-filled roar that echoes through the house, I disapparate.

Swaying in the breeze of my passing and dripping blood on the carpet, is the note I left for her.

It only says two words:

GONE HUNTING.

I promised the kitty I wouldn’t do certain things, and tonight, I’m not exactly predisposed to following rules. After all, she toldme she’d be truthful and she’s definitely not kept her end of the bargain.

The Company won’t send me on a mission like this. This kind of shit leads to clones going feral if they get injured. Risking the assets they’ve spent years investing in isn’t a good business decision, so Mikhail told me to bugger off when I called in.

Stupid bookish fuck. I hate following his dictates, but I’d rather stab myself in the eye than take his job.

“It’s fine. I can find my own victims.”

There’s a slight push against my mental blocks and I give whoever it is a mighty shove out of my head. I don’t want to be around anyone when I feel this way.

All I want to do is cause pain and wreck havoc.

Thinking for a moment, I grin when the perfect idea flits through my mind. I know where to go and I know exactly what to do.

Time to get this shit off my chest.

The Goddess Worries

TALIA

He’s in so much pain.

As Taurus’ primary mate and a skilled empath, I feel the block he put on our connection. It’s been a long time since he’s shut me out, so I know he’s also shutting out the ‘magical minx’. She must have caused this disaster.

If Taurus is off the chain, a disaster it will certainly be.
