“You’re going to have to try harder than that to get me to talk,” I ground out, despite how turned on I was.
“Is that a challenge?”
I playfully waggled my brows. “Maybe.”
“Well then…” She sensually rolled her hips against me, my erection throbbing at the heat between her legs. “Challenge accepted.”
I groaned, gripping her hips as I met her rhythm, wanting nothing more than to sink deep inside of her, despite the fact that we spent most of last night doing this precise thing. Her lips hovered over mine, but every time I craned toward them in an attempt to capture them, she moved just out of reach, remaining close enough to make me lose my mind.
“You’re not playing fair, Imogene.”
Her mouth tipped into a mischievous smirk. “Then tell me the surprise.”
“Not a chance in hell.”
I used her brief moment of frustration to my advantage, flipping her onto her back so she was beneath me.
“Now who’s not playing fair?” she whimpered as I slowly pulsed against her, my erection hitting her clit.
“I never promised to play fair. In fact, I think you like it when I don’t.” I wrapped my hands around her wrists and pinned them against her head, leaving her completely at my mercy. “Am I right?” I arched a single brow as I teased her opening with my cock.
“God, yes,” she exhaled, her eyes rolling into the back of her head.
“That’s what I thought,” I responded before slamming into her, fucking any thought of today’s surprise right out of her.
There was no doubt in my mind. This was my favorite way to wake up, too.
Chapter Twenty-Five
Imogene
The clock ticked closer to six, each second feeling like an eternity as I anxiously waited for Gideon’s return. He told me to be ready at six for my surprise, but now I couldn’t help but worry about where he might be. What if something happened to him?
What if Liam somehow found us? Found him?
My mind raced with all the possibilities, each scenario worse than the one before.
I reached for my phone to text him when a knock on the door startled me. Maybe it was Gideon.
Why would he knock when he had a key? Then again, maybe it was part of the surprise he’d planned.
Placing my cell in my purse, I checked my reflection in the mirror one last time, smoothing my hands down my sundress. I wasn’t sure what to expect tonight, but Gideon told me to wear something nice, yet comfortable. So a sundress it was.
The fabric swished around me as I walked to the door and peered through the peephole.
But it wasn’t Gideon. Instead, a man in a hotel uniform stood in the hallway, holding an envelope.
“Can I help you?” I asked, opening the door cautiously.
“Good evening, Ms. Prescott. This is for you.” He handed me the envelope. “Enjoy your evening.”
All I could do was nod in return, curious yet relieved, especially when I saw Gideon’s unmistakable sharp, slanted script.
Shutting the door behind me, I slipped my finger under the flap and unfolded the paper inside.
Our journey begins where the ocean meets the shore,
Where sunlight dances upon waves forever more.
