“Nah, I’m good.”
She sat next to me and covered herself up again.
“Still always get cold, huh?” I smiled. It didn’t matter how hot it was outside, Wynter always had a blanket on when she was inside.
She giggled. “Yes.”
“Look, I didn’t mean for things to go the way they did, but I seem to lose my senses when I’m around you. I didn’t think I would have that same reaction all these years later, but shit, how could I not? I hadn’t stopped thinking about you over the years. I wasn’t sure when or how, but I knew our paths would cross again. I just never expected it to be like this.”
Wynter and I had unfinished business, so it was inevitable that we would see each other again. We were from the same place, so it was only a matter of time.
“I wasn’t expecting it either, but I don’t regret it all.” She bit the corner of her lip.
“Do y’all have any plans tomorrow?”
“No.”
“Can the three of us hang out?”
I didn’t want to wear out my welcome, but I wanted to see both of them every day until it was time to go.
“Sure. Let me give you my phone number, and just text me in the morning. He usually gets up early.”
I took my phone out of my pocket and powered it back on. I quickly cleared the notifications before passing her my phone. I prayed Shannon didn’t try calling again while the phone was in Wynter’s hand.
She handed me the phone, and I put it back in my pocket.
We were silent for a few minutes before I stood. “I’m going to get out of here so you can get some rest.”
She looked up at me. “Oh, okay. Yeah, that’s fine.”
“Okay. I’ll call you tomorrow. Come walk me out.”
She tossed the cover to the side and got up.
Neither of us said anything as we walked to the door.
Wynter opened the door, and I turned to face her.
“Thank you again for today. All of it.” I kissed her forehead. “I’ll see you tomorrow.”
My brain said to leave, but my feet wouldn’t move for some reason.
“See you tomorrow, Osiris.” Wynter smiled.
I left her house with my mind full of things. When I got to my car, I made sure she closed the door before I pulled off.
Shit was crazy. Not only did I run into Wynter, but I also found out I had a son. The day couldn’t have gotten any better. I wanted to stay the night so I could be there when my son woke up, but I needed a minute to process everything.
Shannon had called numerous times and left multiple messages, but I would have to deal with that later. I wasn’t surehow I would tell her, but I knew I had to. I also had to tell my family, but they would know before Shannon did.
For the moment, I needed to keep Little O to myself.
Good morning, beautiful.
I smiled at Osiris's text message. I was surprised he was up early because I could have used a few more hours of sleep.
Good morning to you too. What are you doing up so early?
