I didn’t like the way he said that or the way his head moved. It was all too…questioning. He didn’t believe us.

“So, anyway, we should be getting back.”

“Aren’t you interested in why we’re out here?” Fox asked.

Oh, right. That. “Yes, as a matter of fact, I would like to know.”

“We’re on guard duty.”

Okay, I did not know that. “All of you?”

“Yep,” he grinned. “Been here since you arrived.”

“Since—” I swallowed hard. “And you’ve been…here?”

“In the trees. Hanging around.Watching.”

I nodded slowly. “Watching.”

As in, watching me today as I stumbled around, spying on people. Creeping around to cabins and looking inside. Oh god, he’d seen me earlier when I was spying on this very cabin. He saw me with Jane. And now we were back. He probably knew who was staying in here, too.

“Yep. Watching everything.”

“That’s…interesting.”

Someone huffed out a laugh, but quickly piped down. “Did you see everything you needed to?” Fox asked.

I turned beet red, hoping Jane would help a girl out and jump in to save the day. After all, she knew these men. She could probably handle them a lot better than I was. But since she wasn’t doing anything to help, I decided to throw it to her.

“Jane?”

“Uh…yep. We’re good.”

“You’re sure?” He glanced over his shoulder. “Thumper? You wanna take this one?”

“I think I’m good,” the man said.

Thumper. That was an interesting name. Not that now was the time to get into who was who or their names. So, these were more of the men from OPS. I hadn’t met all of them, and now that I had, it figured it was in a situation like this.

There was a crash from inside the cabin, followed by a very loud moan, very unmistakable shout of pleasure. My eyes wandered toward the sky, unable to look at anyone during this very uncomfortable moment.

Once that was over, Jane sighed. “Well, I think I’ll get back to my cabin. It was a very nice walk.”

“Yep,” I murmured, taking off toward my own. The guys snickered as we walked past them. It was like they all knew what we were looking at—like they were watching right alongside us. I was mortified. I hustled back to the cabin, never so grateful to see those four walls in all my life. As soon as I was inside, I hurried up and ditched my winter gear, then shed my clothes and crept toward the bed.

A light on the table in the corner clicked on, illuminating the room and IKE as he lounged in the chair.

I pressed a hand to my chest as I tried to calm my racing heart. “Jesus, IKE. You scared the crap out of me.”

He stared at me, his eyes roaming over my body. “So…find out anything interesting when you were out tonight?”

IKE

I knew exactlywhere she had gone when I woke up and found her missing. It wasn’t hard to figure out. Then again, one phone call was all it took for confirmation. As I suspected, she went back to the same fucking cabin she’d been to early with Jane.

I couldn’t help but wonder what she found tonight that kept her out for so long. It had been at least an hour since she left me cold and alone in our bed. I let my eyes trail over her body, paying particular attention to the way her nipples were poking through the fabric. Was it just the cold or had she enjoyed what she’d seen?
