Kyril
Ihid behind a tree and watched Thea’s face as she realized someone - aka me - was hunting her. A normal woman would have frozen with fear, but not her. She looked more angry than fearful. I preferred aroused Thea, but angry Thea worked too. I was nothing if not adaptable. All courtesy of a father who liked to mix things up on a whim, supposedly to test my reflexes.
The security light died a few seconds earlier, but my eyes had already adapted to the darkness. It was time to make my presence known.
“Thea…” Her head snapped up when she recognized my voice. Instead of running, she stood still, listening for anything that might give away my exact location. Knowing her, once she pin-pointed where I was, she’d throw a knife at my head.
I tossed the stone I’d picked up earlier. It rattled through some bushes a few feet away. Thea turned in that direction, away from me, and I shot out of the trees.
“Give it up, littlegadyuka!” I yelled. “You’re mine tonight!”
“I’m nobody’s, you freak!” I reached her, but before I could snatch my prey, she evaded me and ran into the trees, vanishing in the darkness.
My dick throbbed as I chased her, reveling in the primal power of the hunt.
Bushes whipped my legs, thorns tearing my pants. I knew these trails like the back of my hand; I ran here virtually every day while on campus. It was dark and cold, but my blood burned hot, pounding through my veins.
The chase was on. Thea probably thought she could outrun me. On a flat, open running track, she could have. I’d seen her pounding away on the treadmill in the gym when she worked out in the early morning. The girl was fast. Faster than me.
But not out here. She didn’t know the woods like I did.
Landon and Milo were somewhere nearby, making sure Thea didn’t stray too far from the campus. I wanted to catch and punish her for daring to thwart me, not kill the little minx.
I heard her running ahead of me. The occasional muttered curse told me she was finding it difficult navigating the winding trails in the pitch black. Tripping over exposed tree roots was a legitimate hazard, even for me.
But the potential danger made this little game more exciting, and I had a feeling she got off on it just as much as I did. My girl was an adrenaline junkie. She loved to take risks. I recognized a kindred spirit.
The trail widened near the tall fence marking the perimeter of campus property. I caught a flash of pale skin through the trees. She was so close now. If I pushed a little harder, I’d catch her.
But that would be too easy. I wanted her heart thumping in her chest, her skin slick with sweat, and her body quivering as adrenaline lit up her veins by the time I finally caught her.
Then she’d learn what happened when she denied me what I wanted.
Which was her.
I’d had enough of waiting. I was tired of letting her set the pace. Thea was my queen and tonight, I planned to make her mine.

Kyril took off like a man possessed, infuriated that Thea had slipped through his fingers so easily. She’d played him. Appealed to his urge to protect her.
And the idiot had fallen for it.
Yes, her ribs were almost certainly still painful, which meant being slung over Kyril’s shoulder would have hurt like a bitch. But Thea was strong, accustomed to physical pain, so a bit of discomfort would not have phased her in the slightest.
She was, however, mad as a skunk after he’d hauled her away from the party. Honestly, I had no clue what women saw in the big bastard. He acted like Tarzan sometimes.
Did women truly want an alpha male Neanderthal?
The sort of dude who threw them around the bedroom and then fucked off?
It sure felt like it, given the numbers of girls who queued up to be treated like shit by my friends. Landon was the only one of them who behaved in a half-way decent way. At least he bought them a drink first and occasionally took them on dates.
But now was not the time to question what women wanted. Kyril was acting like a massive douche, and if I didn’t do something fast, he would ruin everything.
“Shit.” Landon groaned in annoyance. “I better go after him. He’s fucking deranged tonight. Must be the full moon or something. Didn’t I always say he was part-werewolf?”
