“Dom,” he said as the bedroom doorknob jiggled, “what gives? Get out here.”
“I’ll start the coffee!” Ronyn bellowed from downstairs.
“Coffee does sound nice,” I muttered.
Voss paused. “Bexley?”
“What?” I asked flatly.
Voss slammed his fist against the door. “Dom, let her rest and get the fuck out here. We need to keep this pack safe.”
“Oh, is that what you call it?” I spat at him.
Dom reached down and kissed my forehead before settling my head back to my pillow. Then, I climbed out of bed, whipped his hand around in the air, and all of a sudden, I watched clothes reappear on his body.
“Wow,” I whispered.
“Dom!” Voss bellowed.
“Be down there in a second, Alpha,” Dom said.
“Now,” Voss commanded.
Dom perched on the edge of the bed again and raced his fingers through my hair. “You okay?”
“Dom!” Voss bellowed.
“Coffee’s ready!” Ronyn barked.
“Come on! This is important,” Voss said curtly.
“Well, what I’m doing is important, too,” Dom said as he continued running his fingers through my hair.
“And what the hell is more important than taking care of this pack?” Voss asked.
Dom didn’t hesitate as he gazed deeply into my eyes. “Keeping my mate safe.”
My heart came alive with his words. “Go, Dom.”
He tilted his head. “Are you sure?”
I snickered softly. “Your Alpha’s calling you, Dom. Go. I’ll be here when you’re done.”
“You promise?”
I hated the worry pooling behind his eyes. “I mean, if you’re okay with the fact that I’ll probably be asleep once you’re done with them, then yeah. I promise.”
His smile was radiant as he bent forward and kissed my forehead one more time. “I’ll be back as soon as I can.”
After he tucked me into bed, I listened as he backtracked toward his bedroom door.
Before sleep quickly dragged me under for some slumber.

VOSS
I snarled as I stormed back down the stairs. “I’m gonna drag him out of that bedroom by his fucking neck.”
