“Mom, I need to go, okay? I’ll call you later.”

“Okay, honey. Let us know how the Secret Santa goes! We’re so bummed we’re missing it this year.”

“Yeah. Sure. Love you.”

“Love you, Si!”

I hang up the phone, sliding it into my back pocket then open the door cautiously. A blast of cold air sweeps in making me shiver. “What are you two doing here?”

Wyatt grins, tipping his head toward me.

“You know what tonight is, don’t you?”

I cross my arms, feeling both irritated and more than a bit relieved at the sight of them.

“Christmas Eve.”

“And the Secret Santa,” Cody tacks on.

“I’m not planning on going.”

“Are you going to let us in?” Wyatt asks, stepping forward and pushing the door open with a wide palm, keeping me from slamming it shut.

“Come on in.”

“Thank you!” Cody grins, brushing past me with a conspiratorial wink.

“You’re welcome,” I deadpan, closing the door behind them.

“So, you're really not going to Secret Santa?” Wyatt asks, leaning against the counter.

“No, I’m not.” I repeat.

Cody raises a brow. “That’s funny, because your hair looks awfully done up for someone who’s staying in.”

Heat creeps into my cheeks as I self-consciously pat my curly locks. “I—I wanted to look presentable in case of any last-minute baking orders."

Wyatt and Cody exchange knowing looks. “Uh huh,” they both say in unison.

I glare at them both, embarrassed and annoyed at how easily they can read me sometimes.

"Well," Wyatt says, clapping his hands together, “the good news is that you still have time to come out.”

“I don’t think so.” I say shaking my head.

“I mean, Sierra—come on. It’s almost Christmas. Jack will be so to see you.”

“Don’t you dare guilt me like that, Cody.”

He feigns the most innocent expression he can manage. “Who, me? I would never.”

Wyatt gives me a puppy dog pout. “Oh, come on. It’ll be fun! Who knows, maybe you’ll even have some fun.”

“You’re not going to leave me alone unless I agree to go, are you?”

“Nope.”

“Fine, fine,” I relent, holding my hands up in defeat. “Jeez, you two are like a damn tag team.”
