We hadn’t talked about it again. I hadn’t really thought about it again, stuck in my orgasmic bliss.
“We did,” She grinned and I followed her to her massive bathroom that was the size of my bedroom. The shower was something dreams were made of. It spanned across the back wall with a huge glass wall. There was a sunken tub in the middle of it and the shower heads were in the ceiling on either side. There were two long benches on opposite walls of each other and I wondered if shower sex was actually enjoyable in something like that. She sat down on her plush stool in front of her light-up vanity that took up, again, entirely too much space. Who in their right mind had that much makeup?
I certainly didn’t and Carina didn’t even need it. She crossed one knee over the other as she applied her mascara to her naked eye. “We really talked about it this past weekend. As much as we would love to let his mother take control of our special day,” She deadpanned in the mirror. “We are excited to make this day about us.”
I let out an amused sound. “Okay, that’s good.”
Her eyes met mine in the mirror. “Are you ready to go?”
I probably shouldn’t have invited Carina to the celebration that I was invited to, but she was my best friend and at the end of the day, that was all that mattered. If I lost a friend or a job because I couldn’t bring my chosen sister along, I didn’t want it.Plus, I wanted them to finally meet. They’d both heard so much about each other, it was about time.
“Yes,” I looked down at my clothes with more confidence than I’d felt in a long time. The red dress was tight on my curves and showed just enough cleavage. It was tasteful, yet sexy. “Should I tell Alexei I’m going out?”
Carina’s brows lifted slightly. “The thing you need to know and understand about the Cristof brothers is that you don’t have to tell them anything but they will find you if they want to.”
Chapter Fifty-Four
Alexei
Maybe it waspsychotic of me. Maybe it was something Dimitri would do but I didn’t care. At every single one of my establishments security had a picture of Carina and Audrey. When either one of them were recognized, I was to be called immediately, it didn’t matter what time it was. So at 2 AM, the call went through and I was proud of myself. Ace wouldn’t know where she was because she was at my joint, but I gave him a courtesy call just in case.
He answered on the first ring. He was ready for action no matter what time it was. I always admired that about him. “Yes?”
“Your bride-to-be is at one of my clubs,” I ran my finger down the end of the counter as I walked by. I was ready to leave, because I knew if Carina was there, Audrey would be sure to follow, if she wasn’t already there.
“Yes, I’m aware.”
“How?”
“I have her location, dummy.”
My lips pursed, why hadn’t I thought of that with Audrey?
Oh yeah, because we weren’t getting married.
The thought did something funny to me. I’d never thought of even tying myself romantically to anyone before but the longerI thought about it I could see Audrey walking down the aisle toward me in a white gown, her face partially covered by a veil.
I swallowed.
Oh God.
Maybe I didn’t need to think of a retrieval mission. Maybe I needed to go back to bed and take a bottle of bourbon with me. Squaring my shoulders, my phone pressed firmly against my face, I exited my penthouse.
“So are we going to intercept?”
I could practically hear my brother smile. “I thought you’d never ask.”
Ace was dressedin black slacks, a black button-down, and shiny black derby shoes. My clothing was similar except my button-down was white. We stuck out like sore thumbs but we also didn’t care. We owned this club and most of them around the city. Our father probably owned most of the places these people were employed at. I didn’t care to blend in with them. There was a reason we stuck out. My eyes skipped over the gyrating crowd beneath us. Ace ordered a drink, I wasn’t sure if it was for show or not. I didn’t bother.
My eyes immediately found Audrey. She grinned as she danced in a circle and swiveled her hips against the woman I’d seen her with a few times in Central Park. She was a cute willowy woman. Her blonde corkscrews were tied up on her head and her clothes matched all the other times I’d seen her. Hippie-chic was the only way to describe her. She seemed nice and I didn’t want to interfere with Audrey’s friendships so I honed my crazy in and didn’t try to do a deep dive into her life. Even though I could have known everything about her in five minutes, I didn’t. It was shocking and completely unlike me.
Carina was wearing a tight crop top with boxy jeans and Converse. She jumped around the girls in a circle and even threw a few death glares when some guys got too close. She was the protector tonight, it seemed.
Both of them had nothing on Audrey. I knew as soon as I focused on her, I wouldn’t be able to stop staring. Her tight red dress would fuel adolescent wet dreams for the rest of my existence. I wouldn’t be able to cum without seeing her in it. Every outfit she put on was enough to drive me over the edge, but this one wasit. Her heels made her legs look so delicious, I could feel myself salivating just thinking about tasting them.
God, tastingher, it was every single fantasy brought to life.
“Would you like to interrupt?” I shouted over the music.
