“All the same, these prove the legitimacy of the union, at least by Cappran law. You’re now a very wealthy woman in your own rite. Even more importantly, C’bor was the son of an Intergalactic Council Member. His father was in the process of transferring his Membership to him. When we go back to Cappra for the inquiry into C’bor’s death and the transfer of his estates, you will need these bracelets to prove you were married. You will then succeed him as the new Intergalactic Council Member of Cappra.”
Juliette stared at Torrin, her eyes boring into his. “They’re called ‘Chains of Obedience’, and as I told you yesterday, I just want the damn things off. I have no interest in Cappra or the Council. That man was evil. Get. Them. Off.”
Nodding his understanding, Torrin tapped one of the bracelets again with the strange tool. “And I will remove them if that’s what you still want. But what if I could reset them? Make them obey my commands instead for a few hours at a time?” he asked, his voice husky, his heated gaze full of promise. “If you trusted me, I could make the experience very,” he paused, “rewarding.”
Did she trust him? She did, with all her heart. If this was something he really wanted from her, she would do it without hesitation. She would give him control. Make herself vulnerable. Swallowing nervously, she licked suddenly dry lips. “All right. I’ll try it once. But if I don’t like it, they go. No questions. No arguments. They just go.”
“As you wish,” he agreed. Placing the tool he held against the first bracelet, he pressed a series of buttons, each one blinking a different color. When the fourth light blinked, she felt one bracelet buzz, then loosen for the first time since C’bor had placed it on her. A huge sense of relief washed through her. Releasing the breath she hadn’t realized she’d been holding she was unable to hold back hot tears.
“Easy, my love,” he said, lowering her leg back down and gently brushing her tears away. “If you don’t want to do this, we can stop. I will simply remove the other bracelet and that will be the end of it.”
Juliette sniffled. “No. I trust you. It’s just such a relief knowing he can’t get to me anymore.”
“He can’t hurt anyone ever again, princess. Taeger made sure of that. If I hadn’t been so worried about you, I would’ve gutted the bastard myself,” he growled. “I failed you in that moment. Had Taeger not been right behind me, you would’ve died before we hit the ground. Forgive me.”
Juliette laughed through her tears. Only her man would be upset about not being the one to kill something. “You came for me. You found me before C’bor could do anything. That’s all that matters. I love…”
Torrin cut off her next words, his mouth crushed to hers. When he finally let her up for air, they were both panting.
Lifting her other ankle, Juliette placed her foot on Torrin’s chest, ready for him to work on the second bracelet.
“Are you sure?” he asked, his eyes bright.
This time her smile was full of confidence. Torrin would never hurt her. Never betray her. “Let’s do it.”
Chuckling, he put the same tool he’d used on the first bracelet over the second one, this time reversing the sequence.
Again, the bracelet buzzed, but instead of loosening, it stayed snug against her ankle. “Ah, I don’t think it worked this time.”
Torrin grinned. “Do you, Juliette Diane Rosen Bashall, agree to obey me for the next three hours?”
Juliette shook her head in confusion. “Wait. I thought your last name was Llahsab?”
Torrin heaved a sigh. “Llahsab is Bashall spelled backwards. Sevron told me to change my last name to protect our family if I ever found the Lumerian Knights. I thought I was being clever, but now I know Falden knew exactly who I was the whole time. There’s no reason for me to hide who I am now. Besides, this gadget won’t work if we don’t use our real names. So, do you formally, and of your own free will, agree or not?”
Laughing at his eagerness, she said yes. This time both the bracelets buzzed and the one that was loose shrank to fit snugly against her ankle once again. Her pulse quickened, thundering in her ears. Releasing a long, slow breath, she looked up at her new husband. Mate. Partner. Lover. Whatever he was, he was hers. “I’m ready.”
Torrin didn’t waste any time, positioning her feet flat on the workbench. “Do not move your feet from here. These bracelets only control the movement of your legs, but I’m telling you that you may only use your hands to keep your balance. Do you understand?”
“Yes,” she whispered, suddenly all too aware that something was happening inside her. A frisson of excitement raced down her spine. Desire flared to life once again. She still had control of her hands and arms, true, but she’d agreed to obey him, and that meant she would obey all of his commands.
Her nipples hardened beneath the nightgown that he had pushed up past her hips. “Are we really doing this here? I mean, we’re out in the..the.. what is this place called?”
“This is my workshop, princess. I suppose you would call it a large garage. And yes, we’re really doing this here.”
Juliette moaned as he worked his way around the narrow table, his lips skimming over her body, nipping and kissing every inch of her sensitized skin, paying special attention to her breasts, the dip in her belly, the inside of her thigh. His mouth and hands were very thorough. “What if.. what if someone comes in here?”
Clearing more space on the bench, he responded, “If anyone comes in, they will see my woman being pleasured by her man. Now lie back and put your hands above your head,” he commanded, walking around the bench.
Juliette did as ordered, lying back on the bench, her hands stretched high above her head. It was narrow, hard, and had no give. With her feet at the corners and her ass hanging just off the edge, she felt like she was on a doctor’s examining table, her knees knocking together. What was he going to do to her? Already she felt vulnerable. Wet heat trickled from her core.
Her cheeks flamed in embarrassment when Torrin’s nostrils flared. He wasn’t human. He was bigger. Taller than most human men. Definitely stronger. Were his other senses better, as well? Could he smell her desire?
“I think you like this,” he said, triumph gleaming in his eyes.
She huffed, too discomfited to say anything.
“No answer?”
