“No.”
“Fur?”
“Oh yes. But the males already claimed those. You’re gonna have to kill for some of that stuff.”
“Which animal?”
“I don’t fucking know right off the bat.”
I can tell from his tone he’s trying to figure out what I’m on to, so without further ado, I say, “Sounds like the imposter’s residence. He visits often, and when he does, he likes to…rest. It’s quite panoramic and peaceful in the summer. I can see why he’d park his girl here. Remote location. Bring me all the furs the males took, and they better pray I find the scent of him still lingering.” The imposter moves ahead of me, sometimes west, sometimes east, mainly northbound, and Dreikx works on location while I track with what I have. Seer Sense. People call it instinct, but it’s so much more than gut feeling for me, and out of all my senses, I rely on it the most.
“Hm, what do you make of the girls?”
“Four are Betas. The others are like the Swarm.”
“If you were a dad, would you leave your Omega child behind?” I ask.
“She has a pack, she says.”
I chuckle. “I hope so, but it’s not likely. There’s no scent of other males in that house, so I’m gonna presume this is the imposter’s baby girl.”
“Dreikx thinks the hive’s location is somewhere in this area. She could be his hive’s queen.”
“I would smell a hive of males. It’s not here or even miles from here, and we’ve plowed through all his known locations.”
“We settle in and wait?”
“I hate waiting. Besides, strategically, this location would be hard to defend. With their numbers, they’ll surround us.”
“We can take them.”
“We can, but I won’t lose males when I don’t have to. Rest tonight. Go back into the cellar tomorrow and take a good look at those winter reserves. Those are seasonal, and I wanna know what season and how many seasons we are talking here. Also, take the furs from the males and tell everyone I’ll return them. Meanwhile, I’ll get some information from my Omega.” Boom. There. I said it.MyOmega. What the fuck is wrong with me? I can’t take it back. I snap my head toward Noslov. He’s quiet. I’m sure he heard it, but he won’t bring it up. “I will handle the girl.”
He snorts. “I’m sure you will.”
“Stay out of it.”
In response, he brushes my hand.

My favorite time of day is deep in the night, where, apart from quiet rattling, Alphas make no other noises as they sleep. Hounds snore quietly. It’s when I can easily tune out the crap and explore the world around me. I walk around the property, getting a better feel of the layout. The ranch sits on endless acres of flat land. No mountains to climb, no place to run or hide. A no-man’s-land.
After Dreikx dug through Mike’s head and gave me a bunch of locations, I split up the Warlords, and we went after multiple locations at once. I was fucking sure the imposter would stay at the fortress Dreikx plans to inhabit. I would have stayed there, and since Dreikx picked it as a home for Tamey, it’s definitely a great choice. The walls provide a strong defensive position, and no army, including that of the Warlords, likes to surround a massive walled-off fortress. I invaded the fortress. I took many Warlords’ lives and months of my time only to find Swarm and no king. Sure, a few Omegas, but no king.
I keep walking over snow and nothing else. At the thought of spending the night here, my instincts prickle. Why did the girls need all that livestock? No horses, cars, or even bicycles for them to ride. I bet these girls spent their entire lives out here with no TV or radio or any other kind of tech. I bet the imposter delivered all the news they needed to hear.
I have more questions than answers, and I intend to reverse that trend. I click my tongue at Ayo, and we turn back for the camp. A bird flies over my head. I listen. Quiet bird. No wings batting. Not many birds fly this low or cruise. An eagle. I inhale, letting the soft wind carry the scents to me. Hounds, livestock, males, one Omega. Nothing strange or unusual, and not an eagle. Soft buzzing hovers over me, and as I walk, it buzzes away. An insect? Well, if it’s not a bee, I’m not interested. Swarm emits buzzing bee sounds, a mockery of Horde rattling when the Horde announces their raid.
A bit twitchy and restless, I move between the tents. I hate resting, but sleeping next to an Omega in the furs might not be so bad. I wonder if Kiki stayed in the tent or left for the house. The brat probably left for the house, in which case, I’ll yank her out of her bed and carry her back. Naturally, I’m hoping to find the tent empty. Smiling, I enter my tent, finding the bedroom partition zipped closed. I smell her. Still here, and in my bed. There’s only one way this can go, and my dick knows the way.
Ayo takes his place blocking the entrance. I let my dick lead me inside the “bedroom” and crawl into the bed, finding one fur where there should be nine. Where are my furs? I tap around me. No Kiki.
I rattle softly, and Cockster answers me with a peep-whine. Never heard such a noise, but there’s a first time for everything. Ayo yawns loudly, then hacks a few times.
“I’m happy the animal kingdom acknowledges me. Thank you, twats. Good night.”
Scooting over, I tap the cage, reach inside, and find it stuffed with fur. For an Omega with thin human skin and zero survival skills, it’s brutal out here in the tent, so Kiki must have stolen most of my bedding, then packed the cage with my fur. Not just any fur either. All three of my nesser furs and then some. Fucking brat. I almost died getting those things.
