“Dead.”

“Hm. How did she die?”

I shrug. “He ordered her killed.”

He grabs me and sits me over his face. Looking down, I see him open his mouth and stick his tongue out, the forked ends winding around my clit and tugging. I sit on his mouth and count orgasms, forgetting the world exists.

Chapter 19

Seer

Searching for the imposter and killing his assets proved easy. Except Kiki, an asset I couldn’t harm. I think he knew that I couldn’t, though why he’d think I’d stop at bonding Kiki is beyond me. If I can’t find what I’m looking for, I have to invite it to come and find me. The imposter considers himself a king and won’t challenge me, so the only way to overthrow him is to draw him out. He took the bait once at Kiki’s house and sent drones. Since he’s not coming for me while I’m commanding the Warlords, he might come for me while I’m alone, specifically while I go through the transition. He’s got a track record of coming after my cousins while they’re incapacitated and defenseless.

I have a feeling this is exactly why he left Kiki for me. Omegas are distractions, and the easiest way to trap an Alpha or derail one is to dangle an Omega pussy in his face. It’s something like dangling a piece of meat in front of a hungry tiger. The tiger is gonna bite. He’s hungry and predatory. I am hungry and predatory, and once I got to know Kiki, there was no way I was gonna give her up. I’m ill-equipped to care for her now that my muscles feel the impending transition, and I’m risking everything for a chance to face the imposter, but I’ve never been a quitter.

Without Kiki, things went easy. With Kiki, they’re hard. I like hard. It seems that’s the only way I can function. The hard way. I get that from my dad.

I breed the imposter’s daughter so thoroughly that I have no doubt she’s pregnant.

I bonded her, and now I will transition. If he doesn’t come after me now, he never will, because according to Regha tradition, when a bonded Alpha is with an Omega, he must defend his Omega solo or form a pack. I don’t share, so the imposter’s chances of killing me are high. But the issue is that the imposter isn’t interested in me, and I don’t know if he’s even that interested in capturing my pregnant Omega. He’s showed interest in one thing, however, and I’m gonna dangle that shit in front of his face.

With Kiki sleeping off the last hours of her heat, I dress, grab my ax, wishing for the second one, and exit the housing. Outside, the smell of sand and sea soothe me. I inhale a lungful and march toward the sound of the waves hitting the shore.

An electric current zaps my body.

Fuck. I leap backward, crouch, and extend my ax.

A pod buzzes over me and hovers. Someone exits and lands, by the sound of his footsteps, I hear Dreikx approaching.

“Seer,” he says, “meet your new security system.”

“What the fuck is it?” I zone in on the faint buzzing of this thing around me. It’s some sort of tech.

“A dome I erected over your breeding grounds. When activated, it will kill. When not activated, it will sting.”

“You could’ve warned me.” I poke the buzzing thing with my ax and hear a sizzling sound. “Take it down.”

“Disengage shield,” Dreikx says.

I walk toward him, and as I stand in front of him, he says, “When you reenter, you can do the same. Intruder Protocol is the kill mode. Use engage and disengage voice commands as you come in and out of the housing.”

“Thank you, Dreikx. That’s wonderful.”

“Welcome.”

“How is your span progressing?” I ask.

“Surely less exciting than yours.”

Having zero inclination to tell him about Kiki’s heat, I give him my best bored face. “I want to know about the pack Alpha you took.”

“What about him?”

Speaking with Dreikx is akin to extracting my left ball from the sac. “What did you get from him?”

“I asked him to make contact with the imposter and report severe damage to the town.”

“And?”
