“Mm-hm,” Sotay says.
“Tamey is where?” I don’t have the mental capacity to search at this time. My head might explode.
“In Anna’s room next door,” Tamey answers in my head.
Inwardly, I wince.
“Oops. Sorry. You were talking directly at me.”
“I think Raven’s holding a meeting,” I say out loud, but to her too. “I’ll come when it’s done.”
“Okay, Alpha,” she says, and when my head pounds, I erect my wall again and disconnect our link.
Raven escorts the Omegas out and leans against the closed door. “I’m waiting for you to give me the king’s location.”
“The location will be given to Seer.”
Raven’s jaw tics. “Because?”
“For obvious reasons,” I say.
He looks around the room. “Not obvious.”
“Your father, the king, is very, very clever. When I asked for his firstborn, and he agreed, I thought I tricked him to my advantage. And I did. But he found a way to play his hand anyway.”
“Speak clearly and with no riddling shit or descriptive shit or shit in general. What is your point?” Arkin asks.
“My point is…” I take another bite of croissant and nod approvingly at Sidone, but even she narrows her eyes at me. These Regha Alphas. No patience whatsoever. “King Tayseer has one heir who conquered Earth. He’s secured two planets for his people, but upon his death, the crown will go to one heir. Who will take the Earth’s crown?”
“My son,” Raven says.
“Negative,” I answer. “Your son belongs on the Regha throne.”
“Maybe I’ll have two sons.”
“With an Omega that barely carried the one you have?”
Raven drops his gaze.
“Go on,” Sidone says.
“Tayseer has always loved his brother Loven, no?” I say. I’m not asking.
“Yes,” Sidone says and pauses. “I see it now. You can’t possibly think Tayseer orchestrated this past decade. Although it wouldn’t shock me.”
“I don’t think he has. Nobody can really foresee the future. But I think when the opportunity came when Raven could return and take the throne, when Tamey could stand for Raven while Seer is busy elsewhere, Tayseer stepped down and forced Raven’s hand. I think that he hopes his brother’s bloodline will rule these lands.” I clear my throat. “Do we agree?”
Raven nods. “Father is fond of Seer.”
“When Seer was born,” Sidone says, “Tayseer saidhe will be the biggest, most feared and revered Alpha this land and the lands beyond it, have ever seen.”
“And the lands beyond it,” I repeat.
Raven purses his lips. “I can’t abandon the Earth’s throne until the imposter king is dead.”
“Unwise. Tayseer has already stepped down, and you are wearing his pendant.”
“So?” Raven grabs a strawberry and pops it into his mouth.
