“Not a single word came out of the dude.”
“That’s because you hit him in the jaw, dislocated it, and knocked out his teeth, not to mention he was trying to swallow his own tongue because the pain in his shoulder, leg, and head were unbearable.”
“Great Serpent, Dreikx, did you not hear me? I lost a male out there.”
“I heard you, and I swear to you it was not in vain.”
Seer scrubs his face. “Where is the imposter king?”
“I have yet to process the information I retrieved. This will take time.”
“I want the imposter, Dreikx. I want him, and I want his army to get in my way. I want to hear screams of pain and smell blood and tears all while I kill every last one of them.”
I sigh. “I understand. He is well hidden, or he wouldn’t have lasted on Earth for as long as he has. I will find him.”
“Swear to me on Tamey.”
I answer before I think it through. “No.”
Seer sneers and kicks the male. The male’s neck snaps back and stays in that position. He’s dead.
“Soon, I’m leaving. I will burn, kill, and maim everyone who stands in my way while I search this entire continent for their king.”
“How do you know he’s on this continent?”
“He is.”
“Intuition?”
“Yes. You don’t have to believe in it, but I do. I’m never wrong.”
“You will be searching for years, and you will cause massive casualties. This is not what we want. All our people must thrive. War and casualties are the opposite of thriving.”
“Raven didn’t return with the Warlords because he wanted peace. He wants the king’s head. I’m gonna serve it to him. Are you?”
“Certainly.”
Seer steps closer. He reeks of death. Blood, brain matter, and dirt are smeared all over his body. “Then how come I didn’t hear a peep out of the now-dead male? I went through hell and back to retrieve him alive for you. I trusted you would deliver.”
“I asked for the brain intact.”
“Was it not?”
“Did you hit him in the head?”
“By accident.”
I point. “There is a very clear blow to the head, which cracked his skull. That’s not an accident.”
“The bitch was fragile. Nothing I can do about that.”
The things I have to endure. And my Omega wonders why I believe I’m smarter than everyone else. This one cracked the skull of the male I was supposed to interrogate. I sigh. It is what it is. “I’ll have something for you by this evening.”
“How did you do it?”
“Everyone has secrets. Including you. Respect mine, and I’ll return the favor.” I walk away with a nagging feeling Seer won’t let it go.
