I lift her chin. “You cannot possibly believe you are nothing less than perfect.”
“Well, I can’t smell your arousal.”
“This is because I’m a Telean. You and I are not of the same people, and Telean males don’t display the kind of sexual urge Regha males show. But I promise you, when my mating hour comes, you will sense and see everything.”
The house sends up an alarm. “Warning. Identified hostile male approaching.”
“What does that mean?” Tamey asks.
“Your brother is on his way.” I command the security holograms over the glass. Tamey runs upstairs. Sure enough, and as I predicted, Raven, the prince of Regha and Tamey’s brother, is climbing the mountain. His red armor is erect, so he really wants to kill me.
“Engage a no-kill protocol,” I tell the house. “Low voltage. Incapacitate only.”
The security dome around the house is erected. Blue lightning crackles.
“What is that?” Tamey asks from the bottom of the steps. She wears a short white dress that covers her body. Well, most of it. She fits her tiara over her head and approaches me.
“It is a security dome. On Telea, all royalty and their nobles are secured in such way. It is impenetrable, even by a Regha Alpha.”
Tamey snorts. “My brother is no Regha Alpha. My brother is the prince, the boy with armor. He’ll bust right through that thing.”
“My, my, my, are you cheering for your brother instead of your mate?”
“Only when my mate is trying to hurt him. I haven’t seen Raven in turns.”
“And you will visit with him. It’s only today we have resorted to…violence. It is ridiculous.”
“Why?”
“I couldn’t possibly understand why he insists on being disapproving of our union or what goes on inside the head of a Regha Alpha.”
Tamey frowns. “You say that as if you think we’re beneath you. You’re being rude and offending me.”
“I’m not trying to be rude or offensive. I’m stating a fact. My brain capacity is far superior to that of a Regha Alpha, and this simplistic notion that he will separate us with violence is beyond my logic.”
“I think it’s what brothers do. I think Raven coming here to threaten you and wanting to engage in combat with you is flattering. And you think I’m stupid.” Tamey crosses her arms over her chest.
“That’s not what I said or what I think. Your logic is flawed.”
Tamey growls. Growls! And storms out the door and over the lawn, until she reaches the edge of the cliff.
I run after her. “Tamey, do not touch the dome.”
“Drop this damn thing.”
“If I drop thedamn thing, I’ll engage in physical conflict with your brother.”
“Maybe you need an ass whooping.”
“Excuse me? Omega, return to me this instant.”
She reaches for the dome, fingers wiggling.
I freeze. “Nooo!”
She inches forward some more. I march over to Tamey and grab her hand. Securing it with a firm grip, I tug. She won’t move. This is not what I expected. “Tamey, please behave like a grown-up.”
“Oh. Oooo. You dickhead. I wondered how long it would take for your true colors to show. They told me about you. Conceited dick thinks he’s smarter than everyone else.”
