For the rest of the day, Sidone sits by the window, occasionally glancing toward the kitchen, where I prep the rest of the food. I’ve no idea how long we’ll be staying here, so I prep for at least one week for her and a few days for me. She told me that if we are to mate, it could take several days, and that all the prep needs to be done before the heat hits. According to Sidone, staying undercover is of utmost importance, and nobody should know we’re here, including the Hordesmen.
Apparently, her brother, the king, would lose his mind if he knew Sidone wants to take an Omega in an unsecured human territory. She’s supposed to take me to Regha and mate me there in some castle. I’m unsure if I can meet her mating standards, but I’m sure I don’t want the king to hate me for not taking care of his sister. Though I’m a bit disappointed I won’t get to visit another planet, mating an Alpha female sounds great no matter where I am.
As for being undercover, I pointed out we used the prince’s credit card, which can be tracked. She says Dreikx would never betray her location and others don’t know how to track with tech.
My body buzzes with sexual energy. The erection is a constant burden as I keep moving around the kitchen and hitting my dick against the counter. Women don’t have this problem. When they’re aroused, nobody knows. Men are a bit more obvious. I’m trying not to feel like a bull who just got let out of the pen and into a pasture with females in heat, but it’s a bit tough not to face facts. I want to breed her. The urge grows with each hour, my brain barely functioning at other levels.
Sidone says a male Omega is as rare as an Alpha female. If they should ever meet, it is a duty not to waste Omega seed or a female egg. This all sounds like breeding, a week-long fuckathon after which we’d go our separate ways. Something I’m not really made for. Most people think guys go out and fuck whatever pussy is available. And while some do, not all. I’d rather have a meaningful relationship, than stick it in and out, then part ways. My body has never responded to a woman this way.
Finished, I place the prepped food in the fridge and walk to the living room. Sidone isn’t there. “Hey, where you at?” I proceed to the bedroom, entertaining images of a naked Sidone. She’s busty, I can tell, though the corset compresses her breasts and hides them or maybe gets them out of her way as she goes out slaying whomever she dislikes. I have a feeling it’s the latter.
An empty bedroom greets me. I check the bathroom. Nobody. Back in the living room, I realize all the weapons are gone too. Fuck.
Chapter 4
Sidone
Sitting around and waiting for the enemy to show up isn’t my style. My brother Vemlox scouted for the Horde. He’s got the patience for it. I don’t. We all work from our strengths, and mine is active pursuit. Trouble is, I’ve pursued Mr. VP for many years over many different states and countries, even traveled as far as Brazil for a single sighting of him. He’s wearing me out, and he probably knows it.
To avoid tackling the Omega in the kitchen, I left for the roof. He’s a sweet one, with a body that makes my womb burn in anticipation. The daylight is almost waning on the horizon, and I watch the sun descending. All the naughty humans come out to play at night. I bet the one on the motorbike will too. Where will he go? He must report somewhere to someone.
A lone man with a plan can only be a hired killer, a professional assassin. He failed a mission. If I failed a mission, I’d have to answer to my employer, namely my king, and beg for a second chance. He may or may not give me one. Because I’m a female and his sister, I’d get as many chances as I like. Tayseer sent me to Earth first, after all. That’s the mission I failed, and I have to live with it for the rest of my life. I offered the human powers peace. They refused. But I could’ve done more. Had I managed to convince the president to accept our peace offering, we never would’ve invaded and lost so many people, both Reghan and human alike.
I never secured peace or came to an agreement with the Earthlings. I fell into their trap. They captured me, tortured me, and, when they couldn’t get information from me, they froze my body and placed it in stasis, where my mind, unfortunately, never stopped. I stood still for many years before Loven’s face appeared before me and he cracked the confines of my prison.
My mind’s healing process has been long and hard. Some spans, I return to the stasis cell of my own free will. For both myself and Dreikx, who stood in his own cryocell across from me, breaking the mental chains the humans placed on us will take a long time. But we shall persevere. One span, maybe we can forgive ourselves for failing the mission.
On my belly, I lie on the roof, watching the angry Pacific throw itself onto the shore. A lone yacht battles the waves. The sun descends. White birds, whose names I forget, fly in looking for food at the restaurant downstairs. A few humans walk down the beach. It’s all so serene and peaceful that I wanna pull out my hair. Rest makes me more restless. I need things to do. Idle existence isn’t for warriors like me.
A click sounds.
I crouch, body taut and ready for battle. The wind in my favor blows the Omega’s scent toward me. I lie back down and continue watching the sea. The heavy black boots he wears crunch the gravel.
“You’re loud,” I say.
He groans and lies on his belly beside me.
I glance at him. And I shouldn’t have. His pretty green eyes and flirty smile catch my attention and hold it for longer than necessary.
“I thought you bailed on me,” he says.
“I can’t sit in confined spaces for long.”
“You got claustrophobia or something?”
The translator scrambles, but I identify the word on my own. Dreikx mentioned it to me. He read it somewhere. “Something like that,” I say.
Kade props his head on his hands and joins me in silence. We watch the yacht approach the shore and stop. It rocks on the angry sea. A male with a star tattoo around his right eye appears at the deck. I vault upright, ready to climb down the front of the hotel and strangle the life out of him or it or whatever those abominations are.
Kade grips my ankle. “Get down,” he whisper-hisses. “He’ll see you.”
“That’s the point.”
“No, no, the point is to sit tight and see what happens. Come on.”
I stare down at the Omega. I can’t act as if I’m on my own when I’m not on my own. I have to think of the Omega, and his needs and protection. I lie down again and decide I have to get rid of the Omega or I’ll never complete this mission. It’s gonna drag on for years like the Mr. VP one. Memories of what my enemy repeated daily assault me.
You failed a mission, soldier.
