“Careful.”
“I will stay with your Omega.”
“Not a chance in hell.”
He looks offended. “Do you not trust me?”
“I trust no male with my Omega.”
Dreikx kicks his feet up on the console. “Or I could leave to get your aunt. It’s only a few hours away. Who knows what could happen during my absence. Travis could come.” He makes a slicing motion across his neck. “Off with her head.”
I hate when he gets logical on me. “You must not speak with my Omega.”
He smiles. “I wouldn’t dare.”
I glance at my males waiting by the gates. “And have someone else bring my aunt.”
“Have faith, boy. I’m not interested in human Omegas.”
Though unsure how that’s even possible, I believe him. One hundred percent. He isn’t interested in human male or female Omegas.
Tabby’s situation settled to the best of my ability, I stride to the gates and ride with Kerod, leaving my hound with Tabby. I trust no male alone with my Omega, and Miyo won’t let Tabby leave the house. I can focus on my mission.
After I secure the Omegas, I can sit back and wait. No customers, no money from Betaren. Someone is gonna get frustrated and make a mistake. When they do, I’ll go for the kill.
Chapter 13
Tabby
It’s nearly three in the afternoon when I follow the smell of something delicious baking in my kitchen, where I find a tall muscular man behind a stove and a Telean male at the island.
The Telean rests his fork beside the plate and stands. “Good afternoon. We have invaded your home.” A smile appears on his handsome face.
“I’m getting used to it.”
“You're highly adaptable then. Excellent trait."
“You’re General Dreikx, aren’t you?” I head over to the counter to make coffee.
The man beats me to it. “Light, medium, or bold?” he asks.
“Medium.”
He extends his hand. “My name’s Kade, and I’m your new cook dash house manager. I’ve spoken with Christy from the Stronghold, who hopes to have housekeepers by next week or sooner. My cousin does landscaping, so you got a gardener.” He checks his watch. "And I'm heading out to see him now."
I rub my eyes. “Are you real?”
Dreikx chuckles and says, “Real and real good. My compliments on the preparation of this delicious meal, Kade.”
“Thank you,” my new chef says and passes me the coffee. “Sugar?”
I shake my head and sit as far away from Dreikx as I can. Since he’s having lunch, he’s busy enjoying it, and I take a few seconds to observe this alien race up close. Teleans are gray skinned with ridges on their cheeks, chin, forehead, and nose. The markings vary from male to male, but it’s their eyes that stand out. Almond shaped and larger than a human’s, they are black with silver pupils.
Dreikx lifts his gaze, puts down his utensils, and pushes away an empty plate. “Curiosity is a virtue. Questions?”
“What are you doing in my house? Sir.”
“Guarding you.”
