“Yes?”

“I use the main ship.”

“Do it.”

“If the ship leaves the area, I will have no surveillance to provide you with, not to mention the gate will be left with no controls.”

“We will manage.”

“That’s what I’m afraid of.”

“Come out and say it!”

“Regha males aren’t known for self-restraint. I fear for the humans, for the peace we’ve come to enjoy.”

“The humans will handle it.”

“You misunderstand.”

I tilt my head.

“The increase in activity, namely the aggressive pheromones in the air, will provoke other Regha Alphas to react.” He pauses for effect, or to allow me to process. Teleans believe themselves superior in intelligence to us.

I roll my eyes. “I am aware my enemy is a Regha male. Do continue.”

“I wish to see more of the Swarm males. The live one you caught for me has showed a complete lack of control. He is an animal, much like a hound. This leads me to believe the Swarm males would force their way out of their confines—”

“Confines? You think the enemy holds them?”

“In a way, yes, but I cannot be certain. I presume Domins’s son rules with an iron fist the same way his father did, making use of his males. Trouble is, his males lack…the very thing that separates us from the hounds.”

“Which is?” I don’t have time for this.

“The ability to reason.”

“Why do you think that? Never mind.” I raise my hand. “Unimportant right now.”

“As I was saying,” Dreikx drawls. “If the ship is here and I have tech back for four hours later this evening, I can observe, track, and find patterns. I can do a million things to serve us here and now, particularly since you have decided to terrorize the citizens.”

“I need my aunt.”

Dreikx folds his hands. “Why now?”

“Don’t question me.”

“No sane reason. No ship.”

“I want to snap your neck.”

“Everyone does. Nobody will.”

Dreikx won’t budge. “Fine, asshole. My Omega.” I point to the house. “I can’t leave her unguarded.”

Dreikx throws up his hands. “Have you bonded her, and now you are heading into conflict sick and without armor?”

“Why do you care?”

“I care. You’re young.”
