His seed filled me, warmed me from the inside as his knot expanded at the same time that I cried out, overwhelmed by the intensity of sensation and emotion. The moment my blood filled his mouth, the mate bond snapped into place, permanently connecting us in the most intimate way.
We lay tangled together for a long while, even after his knot receded and his cock slipped out of me. My head rested on Trev's chest, and he stroked my hair, conveying a form of affection I’d never felt before.
Like I was actually safe. Fully cherished. Finally home.
When I couldn’t keep quiet any longer, I had to ask the question I was terrified of answering. "What happens now?"
Trev's arms tightened around me and his tongue swiped across his mark. "Now we talk to Andro.”
“Will he be mad at you…or me?” I didn’t care what he thought about me, but Trev was his best friend. I didn’t want to come between them. They had their own permanent bond that I never wanted to tarnish.
“I don’t think so.” He kissed my temple and then placed his chin on my head. “But even if he is, we’ll deal with it. You're stuck with me now, little omega."
I smiled, nuzzling closer to him. "Promise?"
"Promise," he vowed. "Now get some sleep. We have a lot to figure out over the next few days."
As I drifted off to sleep, I knew my life had changed forever, and I was almost giddy because of it. For the first time, I wasn't afraid of the future. I was actually excited to live it.

TREV
I sighed deeply as I stood in front of Andro's office door, willing my pounding heart to slow down so it didn’t burst right out of my chest. Andro and I weren’t just best friends. We were distant cousins, and he trusted me like a brother. But as the head of the family, he was generally involved or at least aware of potential matings before they occurred. Especially when it concerned the omegas in the family.
Being that I had been in charge of keeping Rowan safe, but instead, I’d take his heat…I wasn’t sure how this conversation was going to go.
This conversation wouldn't be easy, but I couldn't keep it from him. Andro put me in charge of Rowan’s health and wellbeing, and I might have taken that a little too literally.
Finally feeling ready to face my fate, I knocked on the door and waited.
His voice boomed through the thick wood as if he were standing right beside me. "Come in, Trev."
I entered quickly and shut the door behind me. “Hey, man.” I tried to keep things light as I made my way to the leather chair in front of Andro’s mahogany desk.
Andro looked up from his paperwork with his dark eyes boring into mine. "What's so important that you didn’t want to take your day off?"
I sucked in a deep breath and prepared myself for his reaction. "Well…I'm mated."
Andro's eyebrows shot up in surprise. "Really? That's great news, Trev! Who's the lucky omega?"
I just stared, waiting for him to put two and two together.
His smile faded as I hesitated. "Trev, spit it out. Is it someone I know? Someone I don't like?"
"Yeah, you know him.” I leaned back in the chair and tried to play it cool. “It's Rowan."
Silence filled the room like a thick fog, suffocating the very air around us. Rowan was technically a member of the family, but he had been sheltered from all the nefarious dealings. He’d been intentionally kept away from anyone or anything that could put him in harm’s way, and being mated to Andro’s primary guard was not conducive to staying under the radar.
When Rowan had been taken, they’d worried about him endlessly. Having him home safe had meant the world to them.
Andro's face darkened, and I braced myself for the explosion I knew was coming.
"Goddamit, Trev, what the fuck were you thinking?" He jumped to his feet and began to pace in front of the large windowthat overlooked the garden. "You know the rules! You're not supposed to get involved with someone under your protection, let alone our fucking cousin!"
“Through marriage!” I stood up too, giving Andro space but braced for a blow in case he needed to deck me. "And yes, I know." I shook my head and sighed. "But what was I supposed to do? It just happened! You know what it’s like. When it happens, you can’t ignore the connection."
Andro massaged his temples, trying to calm himself down. "He’s an innocent, Trev. He’s not gonna wanna be involved in the shit we deal with. He deserves peace after what he’s been through." Andro put his hands on his hips and stared at me. “You’ll have to leave the business. Get a fucking job at some company somewhere. Maybe one of our legit businesses.”
