“Me too, babe.” The light shifts to green and he turns onto the interstate.

Lacey: Are y’all still coming over tonight?

Poppy: Yes, we are headed to look at the van now and then as soon as we are done, we will head to y’all’s place. It’s an hour away, but I’m hoping we won’t be there too long.

Lacey: What time do you think y’all will be done?

Poppy: Not sure. Logan researched the hell out of this thing, so I’m hoping we get to test drive it, sign the paperwork, and bring it home.

Lacey: Okay, just keep me posted. Anything you're craving that I can grab from the store?

Poppy: Coffee. This one cup a day rule is killing me.

Lacey: LMAO! Anything you’re allowed to have?

Poppy: Chips and queso?

Lacey: Done. Can’t wait to see the mom-mobile!

Poppy: For your information Logan says he thinks I will look sexy in it.

Lacey: I think it’s illegal to use sexy and minivan in the same sentence.

Poppy: Well no one has ever seen me in one before.

Lacey: >

The car’sblinker chirps and I can see the van from where we are waiting to turn into the parking lot of the large dealership. Logan turns in and parks in a spot right in front of the main doors. The minute the car is off, I look up to see three men walking toward us. All wearing matching bluepolos and khakis.

“We’ve been spotted by the vultures,” I say, pointing towards all three salesmen headed our way.

“It appears we have,” he laughs. He jumps out of the car, runs around to open my door, and helps my very pregnant self out of the low seat. He takes my hand in his and even after three years of marriage I love the way it feels there.

We walk across the pavement toward the tall glass doors. He holds the door and I walk into the expansive lobby full of the newest models of some of Honda’s most popular cars. The receptionist meets us with a smile.

“Hello. I spoke with Gary earlier and he was holding an Odyssey for us to look at it,” he says.

“What’s your name?”

“Logan and Poppy Peterson.”

She nods and picks up the phone. She taps the numbers and we wait as it rings. Some one hit wonder blares over the speakers and people shuffle around the large space. The smell of cheap coffee wafts over from the complimentary refreshment counter and even though I’m sure it tastes like trash, it’s all I want.

“I’m sorry, sir, but Gary had a family emergency and is already gone for the day. He left your information with another one of our salesmen and he’ll be up shortly. Can I get you a water while you wait?”

Logan nods and we take a seat. The receptionist quickly returns with two water bottles.

I swipe through my phone. “Did you see the picture Tanner posted?” I ask, flashing my screen toward Logan.

“They look really happy,” he says.

“So happy,” I smile and return to swiping through Instagram.

Approaching footsteps catch my attention and I look up at the same time the salesman coming to assist us turns the corner. The shiny silver name tag pinned to his polo reads “Beau”.

I press my lips together and try to contain my laughter. I know if I laugh too hard that I will pee myself and the last thing I need is my ex to witness me peeing in the lobby of this car dealership. This is too good.

I look over at Logan who is oblivious to who he is about to meet. He stands as Beau approaches and reaches out his hand. The whole moment is in slow motion and all I can do is sit here and try not to laugh.
