“No. I took a flight last night. We can take a flight back. I’ll let you drive the truck until you find something.” I kiss the top of her head.

“Do we have to go home now? I don’t have any other clothes either. Just leggings and your hoodie.” She sounds worried.

“We can go back whenever you want. And I can go buy you clothes for the plane, you don’t need any until then.”

She snuggles in closer and falls asleep. We’ll figure out the logistics of everything else tomorrow.

For now, I’m just grateful to have my love in my arms.

The last week has been the best week of my life.

Violet has moved all her things into my cabin, and I’ve been able to wake up with her in my bed every morning and watch the sunrises together until I drive her up to the inn to start working.

We needed the room she was in and I wasn’t about to let the woman I love find somewhere else to live.

And today is the Valentine’s Day dance. I can’t wait to give her the gift that I made for her.

I walk into the kitchen of the inn where Violet was finishing her candies for the dance.

“Hey beautiful, I’m getting ready to head over to Rebels with some final decorations. Are you almost ready?”

“Yes! Can you take those boxes and then I’ll meet you outside?” She points to a box on the counter by the refrigerator.

Grabbing them, I run them outside, and place them in the back of the truck before she comes out to join me.

“Okay, we have to do this fast. I need to get back here to meet the girls.” She hops into the passenger’s seat.

“I think you look beautiful right now.” I assure her and kiss her forehead before closing the truck door.

When I get in the driver’s seat she refutes me. “I am not ready for the dance, big bad wolf.” An epic eye roll follows.

Backing out of my parking spot, I head down to Rebels.

Margaret and Esther are struggling with a wagon full of supplies down the street when we get to the parking lot.

“Ladies, do you need a hand?” I hop out and run over to them. I figure Violet will forgive me for leaving her in this case.

“Oh! That would be wonderful!” Esther is quick to drop the handle in my hand. “You are such a nice boy.”

“Don’t spread the word.” I wink at her.

Violet takes over Margaret’s job at the back making sure that their tower of boxes doesn’t fall over.

“Gracious, it’s cold out. Why didn’t we drive over, Esther?” Margaret hits her friend on the shoulder as they walk through the front doors of Rebels.

“Because you didn’t want to!”

Their bickering continues as they go further into the space while we drop the decorations in the center of the dance floor for them to divide up.

Violet slides into my arms. “In case I forget to tell you later, thank you for helping tonight.”

“I only do it for you.”

“Actually you did it for Gran and Esther. I was just a bonus.” A grin splits her face and I can’t help myself.

Leaning down I mesh my lips with hers. “Can you just let me be sweet?” I murmur into our kiss.

“Hey! Why am I the only one getting put to work by these two?” Roman yells at us, causing us to jump apart.
