I frown, uneasiness growing in me. “What about the other stuff? The punishments, the sex? Oh, my God, Landon!” I suck in a panicked breath; my cheeks go from warm to flaming at the thought of a stranger seeing our private moments. Landon’s eyes slide sideways to mine as he starts the truck.

“You know I turned it off for that stuff, baby.”

“But just our dynamic...” I worry my lip. “Does it show too much? God, I don’t need my family seeing that! What will they say about me calling you Daddy?” My gut sinks suddenly as I think about the cops. “Will the RCMP get the footage? Oh, Jesus, will it have to be played in court?”

“Sweetheart, first of all, the RCMP will be discreet. And second, Gillie and Red both pled out, not that Gillie is likely to ever see a real jail cell in his condition. He’ll likely remain a quadriplegic and be in the infirmary. I had my lawyer call their lawyer about the footage. Once they found out I had everything filmed they took a deal, so no court. No one will ever see the raw footage besides us and the RCMP.”

“I don’t even like them seeing it,” I say in a small voice. Insecurity squirms in me like a parasite. I rub my hands over my face, as if I can scrub away the embarrassment and anxiousness.

“We’re going through it all over the next few days before we give them anything else.” He puts his hand on my knee and squeezes. “First you and me, and then Grant. He can help cut out anything we don’t want and then we’ll bring in Anders and Lucy.” His hand circles warmly on my knee. His touch soothes. “And once the network has our approved footage, we all still get a say for the final cut. If any of us decide we hate it, it’s axed. Grant has and will continue to have our lawyer and a few more with him for every meeting to make sure. We’re going to make a lot of money with this.”

I’m still anxious so Landon pulls the truck over before we’re even two blocks from my parents’ place. He unbuckles the belt and pulls me into the middle seat.

“You trust me, right?”

I do. So much.

I nod, curling into his warm body. “You can get your mom the best care money can buy, Landon. My dad will need care too. That’s where the money should go.” I look up at him from my cozy nest beneath his arm.

The look he gives me brings tears to my eyes. I don’t think I’ve ever been looked at like this. His eyes shine with both adoration and love, but something else too. He’s in awe of me. He looks as if I amaze him. As if I can do anything.

“I’m the luckiest man alive.”

I don’t say anything, just pull his hand to my mouth and kiss it.

“Baby, I’ll always put you first. This project is ours. You and me. I haven’t even let Grant see most of it. You and me first, okay, baby girl?”

“Okay.” I nod again, giving him a small nervous smile before a funny thought enters my mind and I have to roll my lips to keep a smirk at bay.

“What?” he asks, looking at me queerly.

“Imagine how much a Wilderness Man sex tape would be worth.” My attempts at holding back my giggles fail when Landon’s brow furrows and he frowns tightly, growling.

“I’ll be destroying that footage now.” He grumbles under his breath and shakes his head, putting his hand back on the steering wheel. A determined expression replaces his grumpy one.

“Over my dead body am I letting anyone set eyes on you naked, little one.” He throws a glance at me before turning his attention back to the road and pulling out. “You’re mine. All fucking mine.” He cocks a brow when I start giggling harder.

“I guess I can forget my future starring in wilderness porn.”

His head snaps to the side to give me a stern look before going back forward. “Young lady, teasing Daddy is a punishable offense.” I notice his dimple fighting to come out as he focuses on traffic.

“So what are you gonna do about it, Wilderness Man?”

He narrows his eyes, giving me another sidelong glance before a grin breaks out. “I’ll think of something.”

“That’s exactly what I’m counting on.” I lick my lips. “Tell me more.”

He grunts, but amusement plays at the corners of his lips. “I went to see Lucy and Anders at the hospital.”

“You know that’s not what I meant, right?” I cross my arms.

“I do,” he says, giving me a flash of a grin. “You’ll just have to be a good girl and wait.”

“Daddy!” This time I growl and Landon laughs.

“How’s she doing anyway?” I ask while sulking.

“Sitting up, talking, eating. Anders looks miserable being cooped up in the hospital but he’s worried and refuses to leave Lucy’s side. I think the nurses have had it with him. Lucy is getting the best care the wild man can scare them into giving her.”
