Page 21 of Unholy Fate

I put my most charming expression on my face while my thoughts raced with calculations, trying to stay one step ahead. “Just glad I could help.”

She looked at me intently, searching my face as if trying to piece together a puzzle. I could almost see the gears turning in her mind, connecting the dots between the helpful stranger at the shelter and the heroic savior on the street.

“I don’t know how to thank you,” she said with genuine gratitude. “You seem to have a knack for being in the right place at the right time.”

I ducked my head bashfully. “Let’s just say I have a sixth sense for these things.”

A pure, unsuspecting, open smile spread across her face. Fuck me, that made me want to laugh. If only she knew the truth behind my sixth sense.

“Well, I’m grateful for it.” She turned back to the sidewalk but then stopped and gave me a warm look. “Take care of yourself.”

“You too, Sister.” I walked past her, Ian and Levi invisible beside me.

As soon as she was out of earshot, I murmured, “Is she watching?”

“Damn it, yes she is.” Ian’s voice crackled in my ear, confirming my suspicions.

Perfect. This little act of heroism had planted a seed in Evelyn’s mind. A connection, a sense of trust. And that was exactly what I needed.

“Smooth move, Aziz,” Levi said with grudging admiration. “Didn’t know you had a soft spot for kids.”

“What can I say? I’m full of surprises,” I said, my mind already racing ahead to the next phase of the plan.

Evelyn might have thought of me as her guardian angel now, but little did she know I was the devil in disguise. And I had big plans for her.

Once Evelyn was out of sight, I let myself fade back into invisibility, rejoining Ian and Levi. We waited for her to pass by and then trailed her as she made her way back to the convent, her steps measured and purposeful.

I couldn’t resist. I extended my tail once more, this time slipping it under her clothing with a more deliberate touch. I let it glide along her inner thigh, brushing against her most sensitive spots.

Evelyn’s steps faltered. A quiet sob escaped her lips as the tension of the day overwhelmed her. I could practically taste her doubt, her arousal, her shame. It wasdelicious.

Ian and Levi exchanged knowing looks but said nothing. Their smirks spoke volumes though. They knew exactly what I was doing.

“Having fun?” Ian asked.

“Always,” I said without taking my eyes off Evelyn. “You should try it sometime. It actually feels good. Unless being a brooding asshole gets you off.”

We followed Evelyn through the convent’s heavy doors without hesitation. Contrary to human myths, demons aren’t barred from holy places. We can go wherever we fucking want to.

Evelyn headed straight for Father Hudson’s office, her body trembling with suppressed emotion.

“Think she’ll confess?” Levi asked, leaning casually against the wall as she sat in front of his desk.

Ian scoffed. “To what? An inexplicable orgasm with no fantasy behind it? I doubt it.”

“You’d be surprised what these religious types feel guilty about,” I said as I positioned myself so that my tail stayed firmly between Evelyn’s legs as she sat. “I watched porn, I’m a sinner. I said a curse word, I’m a sinner. I ate a fucking crab leg, I’m a fucking sinner. It’s so tiresome.”

“Catholics can eat shellfish,” Levi said. “You’re thinking about Jews and Shia Muslims.”

“You know what the fuck I mean,” I hissed in irritation.

If Evelyn did confess, it could work in our favor. It would add to her shame, her sense of sinfulness. And that was something we could definitely use.

But if she didn’t... Well, that could be even more interesting. Watching her try to suppress these new, unfamiliar desires? Savoring her struggle to resist the temptation we’d be all too happy to provide?

Oh, it was going to be fun either way. I could feel it in my bones.
