“I don’t want to hurt you, and I couldn’t stop even if I wanted to.” His voice was thick, his heart thundering so loudly, he felt faint. It took him a few seconds, but he finally broke through the thin barrier and was completely sheathed.

He did not move for a few seconds. Her tightness was closed around him so much that he could not move, not yet. He hadnever been with a virgin before, not even when it was his first time. Sex had always been a way of blowing off steam for him and the women he had been with had been experienced.

For him, it had been physical, just that. Even when he started making money and could have his choice of female companion, it had never been emotional. Now it was more than that. This was spiritual, his soul was involved, his entire being was wrapped up in this one slender woman who had captured his heart when he was not more than a child.

His hands cupped her face, and he lowered his head to hers, taking her lips in a kiss that spoke volumes, that told her what he did not dare verbalize. He moved then and she mirrored his thrusts, her hands wrapped around his neck.

He increased the pace, swallowing her moans as she matched him pace for pace, her hands wandering up and down his back, her body lifting towards his.

Robert felt as if he was being drawn into an erotic dream. Somehow it did not seem real that this was happening. That he was with the woman he had loved for so long that it had become a part of him.

She was everything and more than he had ever imagined, and he was her first, and God help him, he was going to be her last. There was no going back for either of them or whatever he had to do, he was going to keep her with him. He was never going to let her go, not after this.

Her body stiffened, warning him what was coming.

Lifting his mouth from hers, he whispered. “Let go.”

“Robert.”

“Yes baby. Just let go. I am right behind you. That’s it.” His eyes held hers. “Give me everything.” He encouraged hoarsely. “And take what I am offering. Take me.” The climax was explosive and had him driving into her with a force that shoved her towards the headboard.

He came and came and felt as if he was being drained of his life force. Burying his head in her fragrant hair, he emptied himself, his body shuddering, his skin moist. Her legs slipped off his waist weakly.

He felt the frantic beating of her heart against his skin. Something registered that he was probably crushing her, but he could not move. Not yet.

Chapter 7

“I’m sorry.” He whispered a few minutes later when he found the strength to move. Sliding off her, he cradled her against him and remained silent. Sonya curled her fingers into the damp hairs on his chest, her body still vibrating.

One leg was trapped between his powerful thighs, the hairs slightly ticklish. She had no idea what to say or if there was anything to say.

She had done it for the first time and never expected anything like this. She had no regrets and was glad that it was him.

“Do you mind if I ask you something?” His voice vibrated against her cheek.

“I have no one to compare you to.”

His chuckle had her smiling. “I don’t think I need validation.” His fingers were stroking her back. “You ‘re thirty…”

“Thirty-one. June was my birthday.”

“I don’t think I have ever heard of a thirty-one-year-old virgin.”

“Well, you have now. But technically, I am no longer a virgin. And like I said before, I never met anyone I wanted to do it with.”

“Which brings me to my next question. Why me?”

She moved her shoulders restlessly. “I never planned it. I did not come here with you thinking that I was going to get rid of my virginity.” Her fingers curled into fists, snagging some of his chest hairs.

“I rushed in here because I heard you shouting and…” She shook her head. “You were naked, and I realized that I wanted you. It isthat simple or that complicated.” She lifted her head and met his inscrutable gaze.

“You don’t have to make a big deal out of it. I am not going to start making any demands on you. I am aware that women are always chasing you for one reason or another, but I am not one of them. As soon as this arrangement is over, we can go our separate ways…” Her voice petered off at the furious look on his face.

“So, you’re just using me?” His deep voice was deceptively soft, sending shivers up and down her spine.

“No! How could you think that?”

“I don’t know, Sonya. We just shared something significant – I just took your innocence, and you are casually referring to the fact that we could merrily go our separate ways. Is it that easy for you?” His mouth twisted in a sneer. “Or is it because of who I am? Robert Faulkner, the poor scholarship kid who is never going to be in your league.”
