“There’s a security system,” Bullet said. “But it’s activated at night for fire, burglaries, and shit like that. No surveillance cameras inside the building.” He dropped his cigarette, crushed it with his boot, then picked up the butt. “Jinx said for the last three days, Douglas has come in before most of the employees.”

“I remember my dad saying Carl was an insomniac. That’s how he explained Carl being up in the middle of the night.” Too fucking bad my dad didn’t investigate where he was going during the night. It wasn’t always to work on the computer in the home office or take a stroll around the lake.

“There are cameras trained on the parking lot,” Cruz said. “But the lot services a couple buildings on the block, and it’s huge. Safest bet would be on the perimeter of the adjacent building.”

Rogue tilted his head, and his gaze locked on mine. “It’s your decision, but when we do go, we go early, confront him in his office before staff starts showing up.”

A thousand stinging wasps swarmed through me. I felt the biting pain of doing nothing, and the piercing ache of having to face Carl. But I wouldn’t be alone.

“Tomorrow,” I said.

Rogue glanced from me to Cruz, Bullet glanced from Cruz to Rogue, and Cruz stared at me.

“Doesn’t matter how this goes down,” Cruz said. “I’m in. Figuratively or literally, we fucking bury your skeleton.”

Rogue and Bullet wandered over to the oil drum with the old timers. Cruz and I hung back.

“Did you hear about Kodiak?” Cruz asked once we were alone.

I lifted a brow in question.

“He’s on probation for the shit he pulled with you and Kiss. Blade told Jazzy to handle it. If you listen to the guys around the oil drum, Kodiak was lucky not to lose his patch.”

I glanced over my shoulder at Rogue, Bullet, Butch, Steele, and a couple others. “I don’t want trouble with Kodiak.”

“Fuck dude, I wouldn’t either.”

We made our way back into the chapel. I paused in the entryway. McKelle doubled over in a laugh, and Kiss blushed with color. This felt good, too fucking good. And tomorrow, it could all be gone.

Coming up behind Kiss, I wrapped my arms around her waist and kissed her neck. “What’s funny?”

“According to the marketing department,it’s still safe to come,” Kiss said.

“It was all lies.” McKelle said and she, Brenna, and Kiss melted into another fit of laughter. “It wasn’t safe to come. At least, not for Brenna.”

I was going to need more reference for the story.

“OMG, I’m dead,” Brenna said through her laughter, throwing her arms around Pike.

“For the record, the condom came off because it was defective.” Pike took a sip of beer but kept one armaround Brenna. “Not because I have a small dick.” He shook his head and gave the abridged version of the story since the girls couldn’t talk through their giggles. “Promotional condom from a band called the Death Wish or something. I found it in my drawer when we were out of Magnums. It had the words,It’s still safe to come, written on the rubber. Condom slipped off. Brenna couldn’t fucking find it. I did. End of story.”

“Not quite,” McKelle said. “You forgot the part where there was no need for Plan B. Because plan A was anal. Now, Bren won’t let him fuck her in the ass.” More laughter followed.

“McKelle says she has an anal story,” Brenna said. “But one of us has to beat her at pool to hear it. Unless you want to share,” she said to Cruz.

“Sharing is for NA meetings,” he countered. “Just ask Kiss.”

She put her hands up. “Leave me—us—out of this. We don’t have any anal stories.”

“Not yet.” McKelle set up her shot on the pool table. “But you said he can’t keep his dick out of you, so it’s only a matter of time.”

“McKelle! Girl code.”

I nipped her neck and whispered, “You didn’t tell them about how you moaned my name when I ate your ass?”

She spun in my arms, her face pinched, and her lips pouted. “Sorry.”

Maybe she didn’t realize I’d spent all my time at the MC with Jazzy, Hana, Levi, and Pippa. I knew how girls talked. They called me Blue because I didn’t obsess over pussy. Not until hers.
