While we were watching that movie she loves so much, I kept stealing glances at her and it made me laugh every time she cringed at all the scary parts while sitting next to my brother. I had fallen asleep listening to them talk and woke up to all of them arguing. She’s got some fire in her that led me to internally cheering for her when she put Maverick in his place. I legit laughed at him as I got up off the couch and went to bed, wishing it was my bed she was sleeping in and not his.

But according to Harley, she’s off limits, Maverick has feelings for her that he won’t admit and then you have Caspian who actually fought Maverick over her. If I’m being honest, if they all don’t get their heads out of their asses, I may just slip in and make the first move.Yes, I know she has a prick of a boyfriend, but she never looks happy with him.I see the mask she puts on acting like she's the perfect girlfriend. I realized it, as she smiled genuinely while we ate pizza, that she'd been hiding herself beneath that mask. She was actually happy spending time with my brother and me. That alone makes me want to pursue her.To see that smile again.

Finally my brothers arrive, taking me out of my thoughts. I get out of my car, locking it as I exit. They all climb out of theirs and meet me in front of Mavericks. I nod at Axel as he grabs his bag, throwing it over his back.

“It’s Presley's birthday today.” Maverick says with a huge smile on his face.

“Oh, is it? Why didn’t you tell me? I have the perfect gift for her,” Caspian says as Maverick rolls his eyes. I look over at Axel who has his eyes narrowed beforehe huffs and walks off. That’s new. Did this conversation just make him mad? Does he like her too? Jesus Christ. We all head to the front of the school and up the steps. Girls flock to us as usual. Being the new guys seems to have that effect, but I brush them off, giving my brothers a fist bump as I head to class wondering what this day will bring.

Later in the day I’m coming out of the bathroom and hear arguing in a dark corridor.I know that voice.I stand against the wall, peeking down the hallway and see that prick Jacob Lee with his hand wrapped around her throat. She has a frightened look on her face as he spits vile words at her.I damn near see red.My feet quietly carry me towards them and I rip the asshole off of her. She heaves for air as I press him against the wall, rearing back and punching him in the nose. Feeling the crunch beneath my fist causes me to grin as blood spills from his nostrils.

“Don’t you ever put your fucking hands on her again, you piece of shit.” I growl as he pushes me away.

“Get fucked Cyprus, and mind your fucking business.” He says, wiping the blood from his broken nose. He reaches for her but she backs away, shaking her head causing him to growl. He goes for her again but I grab him by the collar, kick his knee out from behind him, stumbling as I wrap my arm around his neck and squeezing. He claws at my arm and face the tighter my hold gets until finally his body goes limp. Releasing him, he falls to the ground.

“Nighty, night dickhead.” I spit then look up at Presley.

“You shouldn’t have done that Brax. He’s going to kill me when he wakes up.” She says and I shake my head.

“Na, Lil’ Mama. Someone needed to put him in his rightful place and frankly, I didn’t like his hands on you.” I admit and she gives me a half smile. I grab her hand and pull her out of the corridor, looking both ways before exiting.

“Wanna get out of here?” I ask and she nods, squeezing my hand. We quickly walk hand in hand to the nearest exit. Once we are outside in the warm sun, I take off running and she follows suit, giggling the whole way.

“I love hearing you laugh. You should do it more often.” I say as we get to my car.

“One day, Brax.” She says as she runs her pointer finger along the hood.Damn, to see her spread on the hood would be a fucking dream.

“Why doesn’t this car surprise me? You Cyprus boys and your cars.” She says, shaking her head as I open the door for her.

“Your chariot awaits, Madam.” I say in an awful English accent, giving her a little bow which only causes her to laugh hysterically.

“Why, thank you kind sir.” She replies and now it’s my turn to laugh.

“Hmm. I like sir coming off your lips.” I confess, and the blush that creeps up her cheeks makes me want to make it permanent. Stepping back, I close the door once she’s situated, rounding the front and climbing in. Starting her up, I put her in drive and away we go.

“You can play DJ. As long as you don’t put on country music, we are good.” I say and she shakes her head, placing her hand on her chest.

“I would never. This isn’t the type of car any country song should be played in. It’s almost sacrilegious. What kind of girl do you take me for?” She giggles and I shake my head, not answering the question just yet. Exiting school property, I gun it down the road as she whoops, seeming to feel free with me next to her.I like this look on her. Being truly happy suits her.

“Are you hungry, Lil’ Mama?” I ask as she turns to look at me.

“I like your nickname for me by the way, but to answer your question, yes I’m starving.” She admits and I narrow my eyes.

“When’s the last time you ate anything?” I ask and she frowns, sitting back in her seat.

“Last night.” She breathes and I growl. I have a thing about food, and if I have to make sure this girl eats three times a day, I will certainly go out of my way to do so.Blame it on the childhood trauma if you must.

“Well, that's unacceptable in my book. I know just the place we can go.” I say and she smiles.

“Let’s do it,” she says, turning up the music.

The birthday girl is hungry, so I shall feed her and take her to one of my favorite places, hopefully it will become one of hers too.

Chapter 14

Presley

Driving in the car with Braxton makes me feel free and happy. I don’t know what it is about these boys, but when I’m around all of them, I feel like I can breathe. I’ve been trying to keep it the fuck together.
