* One Year Later *
Listening to Emie turn the pages of a book while we cuddle up together in front of the fireplace is definitely one of life's most beautiful yet simple luxuries.
We've learned a great deal from each other over the past year. I’ve lightened up, for sure. Become more social. Expanded my culinary horizons, both eating and cooking.
Emie, meanwhile, has learned the fun of travelling for joy instead of out of necessity. She's also learned a lot about Colorado Springs, as we've been there four times now to help her friends.
Other than learning the depth of my ridiculous love for her, she's also discovered just how quickly things can come together with the power of the Wolfe fortune behind you.
She couldn't believe that the architect's sketches for the lodge were finished in just a few weeks, quickly followed by building plans. First thing in the spring, the land was cleared, and the structure was finished in a few short months. The interiordesigners finished the final touches just in time for us to spend the first part of our honeymoon here this week.
"You're not reading. Don't you like that one?"
My gaze lifts from the thriller she gave me yesterday to meet her warm chocolate gaze. "I guess I'm just easily distracted by my hot new wife."
Her silvery laughter always fills my heart with joy. "You know we did things all backward, right?"
"What do you mean?"
"I was living with you when we still didn't really know each other. Then we started building this romantic getaway. Then we got engaged, married, and now we’re honeymooning inside our pet project. I don't know…it just feels kind of…whack."
My arm slides around her, rocking her for a moment until she laughs. "I prefer to think of it as doing things our own way." My eyebrow lifts. "And considering how everyone always says my family is super traditional, that's extra amusing."
Emie squeezes my knee. "What’s really amusing is that crack you made during your wedding toast about me being our social coordinator and giving everyone my email. Last time I counted we had received eight dinner invitations, and three barbecues."
My loud grumbling gets me an elbow to the ribs. "That sounds like a lot of chit-chatting."
"Well, it’s your own damned fault. And it's good for you."
"You know what's good for me?" I place our books on the table, then push it away with my foot. In seconds I have her flat on her back on the sofa, her t-shirt shoved up to her chin as I ravish her breasts, sucking each nipple into my mouth in turn.
"Mmm," she moans softly, slipping her fingers into my hair. "I guess we're not going for the inaugural birdwatching walk on the new trail?"
"Soon." Sitting back on my heels, I unfasten her jeans and wriggle them down while she lifts her hips to help me. Onceher bottom half is naked, I fling one of her soft thighs over my shoulder and breathe across her open pink pussy.
Moving my mouth lower, I murmur so that my lips brush gently across her clit with each word. "You know, I love that you wanted a low key wedding at city hall."
"Good. Low key felt right to me."
"It also let the town council really get to know you." My tongue drags in one long, delicious lick through her center. "They agreed that this lodge is going to be an incredible success."
"That's…ahhhh…great."
"And since we have plenty of land and resources…" Slipping a finger inside, I feel her hot pussy clench around me. She's already wet and starting to squirm. "...they agreed to my proposal to build another lodge in two years. Then another."
"Huh?"
"Yeah." Adding another finger, I pump them in and out using long, firm strokes. "Each one will have a slightly different look and feel. The theory is that people will want to visit each one. So we'll be creating a group of regular tourists who drop in frequently. That means fewer strangers."
"Uh huh. Sounds good."
Emie is only half-listening, so I focus on dragging my tongue straight against her clit for several minutes before adding, "Oh, you've been hired, by the way."
"Mmm– unff, what?"
"My gorgeous wife is now the Head of Tourist Facilities of Old Hemlock Valley." I wink at her frozen, open-mouthed face. "Unless you'd like a different title, of course. You can discuss it with them at the meeting next month. It comes with a budget for office supplies, an official town email address, and a very healthy salary."
"Just like that?" she gasps.
"You know how things work around here," I chuckle. Turning my palm up, my middle finger finds her g-spot and circles firmly. "If something works well, we just keep making that happen."
"I…" Emie gasps, clutching at my shoulders and hair as her body twitches. "Can we maybe discuss this later?"
"Sure. Just tell me that you'll take the job so that I can really get down to business here."
"Yes! Of course, yes." An adorable grin lights up her entire face. "Look at me, with a respectable jobandthe best husband in the world."
Considering I've only been a husband for two days, I don’t think her comment is exactly based in fact. But what do I know. I'm the kind of person who is accustomed to watching trees grow for ten years.
But I can't tell her any of that right now, since my mouth is about to be extremely busy for the next twenty minutes, showing my luscious wife how I'm going to adore her for the rest of our lives.
