Her hands clawed into his back, and she dug her heels into his ass, driving him deeper into her. Her breath quickened, and her body shook with sensation. She moved her hands and pulled his head up to her and kissed him intensely, opening his mouth with her tongue and gasping as she came.

Derrick moved his hand off her clit and grabbed her hip.

“Was that good, Tay?” he asked against her lips, swallowing her moans of pleasure. Derrick moved faster and faster, but it didn’t take long before his own body was shaking with pending release. Derrick broke the kiss. “Taylor,” he said before he went over the edge. “Tay, look at me,” he said, holding himself off just a bit longer.

When she opened her eyes and he saw the satisfied and sleepy look in them, he felt pride swell in him. “I love you, Taylor,” he said as he moved in and out of her quickly and then came hard. “Oh God, Taylor,” Derrick said and then collapsed onto her, kissing her as he filled her.

Chapter Twenty-Five

Before Derrick openedhis eyes the next morning, he thought about what had happened the night before, and he was completely torn. Half of him wanted it to be a dream, and the other half wanted to open his eyes and have it all be reality.

He really wanted his dad to still be there, to still have coffee with him in the morning at the office like they had the last two years and review what was on tap for that day or that week or that month. But he also really wanted to be married to Taylor, to know that she was his, that she had really saved herself, and that he was the luckiest guy in the world who had gotten to be her first lover and was now her husband.

Derrick took a deep breath and opened his eyes to find out what his fate was.

All things considered, he was happy with what he saw. Taylor was asleep, lying across from him on her side. Her hair had come loose and was falling over her shoulder, her lips were parted, and her face was free of any stress. The blankets just covered her breasts, and Derrick struggled to decide if he should pull it down or continue to watch her sleep. It was a better way for him to preoccupy himself than to focus on the fact he had no parents.

Taylor’s eyes fluttered open; it was like something out of a Disney movie, when the princess wakes from a long sleep. She smiled slightly at Derrick. “Morning,” she said.

“Morning,” Derrick returned. “So, are we really married?”

Taylor nodded. “Yup.”

“Completely legal?

Taylor nodded again.

“How did you pull that off?”

Taylor rolled her eyes. “It’s amazing what money can buy,” she informed him dryly.

Derrick nodded. “So you are my wife?”

Taylor raised her eyebrows at him. “That is what it means when you get married—”

Derrick cut Taylor off by rolling her onto her back and kissing her.

“And you gave yourself to me last night. I was your first?” Derrick asked her when he came up for air.

Taylor turned a deep shade of red and looked away. Derrick took his forefinger and turned her face back to him, but she averted her eyes.

“Thank you, Tay,” Derrick said and kissed her again. “Did I hurt you?”

Taylor looked away again. “Is it necessary for you to embarrass me first thing in the morning?”

“Tell me,” Derrick pushed, turning her back to him again. “Did I hurt you?”

Taylor shook her head.

Weight lifted from Derrick’s shoulders. “I will never hurt you, Taylor. I promise I will never hurt you,” Derrick said as he stroked her face with his forefinger. Taylor looked at him and searched his face, but she stayed silent. Derrick sighed; she still didn’t trust him. He wanted to stay in bed all day with Taylor, with his wife, and try to prove it to her, but he knew he had things to get done.

“Are you okay?” Taylor asked him.

Derrick shrugged in response. “I had prepared myself, but the reality sucks,” he said and then he kissed Taylor. “I need to call Marty,” he said but stayed motionless in bed over Taylor.

Taylor smirked at him. “It’s going to be hard to call her if you don’t move.”

“I don’t want to get up,” Derrick admitted. “I would really much rather stay in bed,” he said, kissing Taylor.
