“Yes… it was beautiful.”
Erin came in behind them. “It was so beautiful.”
Capone craned his neck to look at his wife. “You mean to tell me you woke up early as shit to do yoga, when I could have bent you in different pos—” He couldn’t finish his sentence because she got to him in time to bawl his lips up.
“Winston, you have said enough.”
I finished my food and grabbed my baby’s plate to take it to her. When I opened the door, I could hear Jesse Powell crooning the words to my favorite song. I listened and could hear Blair singing the song as best as she could. As I rounded the corner, she had showered and was in a robe while drying her hair and singing with her eyes closed.
“The way you walk, the way you talk, the way you say my name,” she sang while holding the blow dryer to her mouth like a microphone.
I put the plate of food on the vanity and leaned in the doorway, watching her sing. She swayed her hips to the side, as she continued to sing. It was when she opened her eyes that she jumped before blushing and looking away.
“Don’t stop now… continue singing.”
She turned slowly. “That song has been in my head for weeks now.”
“It’s my favorite song.”
I watched as she searched my eyes to see if I was fucking with her or not. “Is it really?”
“The night I drove you home from Fern, it was playing in the car.”
She snapped her fingers. “That’s why it keeps playing in my head… I cannot get it out, and decided to just listen to it to see if that would help.”
I watched as she crossed the bathroom until she was right in front of me. Pulling her into me, I held her waist as we swayed to the song, my favorite part was when Jesse was going in. When we were teenagers, I used to make Meer sing that shit to me.
He would sing and I would play it on the piano, sometimes fucking up because I would be so lost in the words, feeling everything about the song. Now that he was older and his voice matured, he could give Jesse a run for his money.
Every time I heard this song, it made me think of my future, and the love that my brother had for me. It was one of those songs that I held close to my heart and cherished.
Anjo held me around the neck as we continued to sway to the song. “I want to say something but don’t want to be weird.”
“Tell me.”
“I don’t want to… scared.”
I kissed her neck. “You can tell me anything, Anjo.”
She pulled back and stared into my eyes. “Can I, without you running and shutting me out? I want to make sure that this is a safe place, and that you won’t go running from me.”
I had scared her. “You got my word that I won’t shut you out, baby.”
She closed the space between us. “I want to marry you to that song, Simmy… I want to be your wife, hold your last name, and build a beautiful family with you.”
I smiled at her. “Shit scares the fuck out of me… not gonna front.”
“It can scare you… as long as you don’t run from me. I’m not saying all of this has to happen now, but I want those things with only you.” Blair looked down at her hands. “I’ve done it before, and it was wrong… I never should have married a man like him.”
“Oh yeah.”
Her eyes rose from her hands back to me. “You already knew?”
“Been knew… was waiting on you to tell me… I also know that shit is a done deal, too.”
Blair looked behind her like someone was telling me her business and she couldn’t see them. “How do you know everything?”
I grabbed her and kissed her lips. “I know every fucking thing. Just don’t let me fucking find out you out there giving my pussy away or playing games with my heart… I won’t ever play games with yours.”
