Keeping my head low, I knew I had to get back to Ox before anyone recognized me. Dressed how I was, that was going to be a problem. Already, the men in the room were staring at me. Their hungry gazes devouring every aspect of my body the closer I got to them.
The light of recognition shone in the eyes of one of the men then. Though I didn’t know his name, he obviously knew mine.
Elbowing his friend in the gut, I overheard the word, “Ghost’s girl,” before I outright panicked and began to run.
Unfortunately, I didn’t make it very far. A large man with a smoky gray beard and pale blue eyes stopped me dead. “Where are you going, Princess?”
Despite not wanting to show fear, I began to compulsively shake. Looking at the patch on the man’s chest, it read “Maze” and “Prez” on the embroidered fabric.
Swallowing the lump of dread in my throat, I said, “I need to get back to work,” hoping I could trick them into thinking I was one of the servers. It was a long shot, but my only hope.
Chuckling, Maze shook his head. “I don’t think so, Kayla. I know somebody who’s looking for you. And now that you’ve run so sweetly into my arms, I’m not letting you go. Somebody take this bitch outside and call Ghost,” the biker called over his shoulder. “I’ve got an early Christmas present for our Road Master that he’s going to love.”

Kayla
How could this be happening?Ox was so close, but somehow so far away. “Let me go!” I shouted, hoping someone could hear me and inform Ox I was in danger.
Maze gave me a teeth chattering shake and chuckled. “Not a chance, Princess. I’ve got plans for you, and they have nothing to do with that oversized bodyguard of yours.”
Grabbing me by the hair, Maze spun me around and shoved me in the direction of one of his men. “Take her outside before the bitch draws any more attention.”
Sucking in a breath to scream, the man holding me clapped a dirty hand across my mouth.
“Shut up, cunt! I don’t think Ghost wants me to put any marks on that pretty little face of yours. He wants to put them there himself,” he threatened with a grin. “But if you keep carrying on like this, I’m going to have to remind you who’s in charge. You got me?”
Biting down on his filthy hand, the biker cursed and squeezed me so hard I nearly blacked out. “Knock that off or I’mgoing to knock you out and drag you out back for a lesson in respect.”
“No you’re not,” a voice piped up then.
I looked up, startled and desperate for help. Geo was standing there, his sparkling blue eyes meeting mine.
Maze stepped forward, momentarily blocking my view of the Mavericks’ VP. “This has nothing to do with you, Geo. Don’t get involved.”
Geo slowly shook his head. “That’s where you’re wrong, Maze. It does have to deal with me. And I’m already involved.”
The Watchmen President tilted his head to the side, trying to read his opponent’s intentions. “What the fuck do you care about this bitch? She ain’t your girl.”
“I got my reasons,” Geo cryptically returned.
Maze snorted. “So you want to fuck her, too? Damn, this woman must have a magical pussy that pisses beer to get the attention of so many bikers.”
Geo shrugged as though he were saying the determination was a bit crude, but on point with his intentions.
“I gotta be honest with you, Geo, I didn’t take you for a man who’s easily pussy-whipped,” Maze taunted.
“Well, maybe you aren’t eating the right pussy then, if you don’t get it,” Geo taunted back.
“No woman is worth fighting over, Brother,” Maze countered.
“Your mommy issues aside, Maze, I disagree. I say this one is worth fighting for. And last time I checked, you aren’t on good terms with the Devil’s Riders. You sure you want to pick a fight with the Mavericks and the Devils on the same night,Brother? Seems like a death wish to me.”
Maze worked hard to puzzle out this unfortunate snag in his plan. He quirked his brow. “Snaking Ox’s girl won’t start a fight between your Club and his?”
Geo smiled like the Cheshire cat. His eyes found mine when he said, “Not if she comes willingly. And, unlike your twisted Road Master, that’s how I like my women. Willing and eager to please.”
Not in a position to argue the point, I swallowed my objections and bit my tongue. I wasn’t ever going to choose Geo over Ox, but I appreciated that Geo was willing to help me when I couldn’t help myself.
