“That’s a change.”
He nodded. “Cameran and I are trying to back off a little in hopes of actually having social lives.” When he shifted, I loosened my hold to let him turn around. Sean’s eyes were still half-lidded, and his gaze spoke to him not being fully awake. He was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen, and I said as much. The pleased grin he gave me was enough to make me want to say it again.
“You don’t have to keep trying to charm me into your bed when I’m already in it.”
I shook my head. “Well, get used to it. You know how disgustingly cute my parents are with one another? That’s going to be us, times two.”
His smile turned wicked then, and despite having just woken up, my dick stirred with interest. “Good.” He yawned before speaking again. “I want bitches to choke on my happiness.”
I couldn’t help but laugh, though I didn’t disagree. I leaned in, enjoying the way his eyes closed, and he tilted his head up, expecting a kiss, when I remembered a small detail from yesterday that was left unanswered. “Wait,” I said, making his eyes snap open. “You never told me why you were upset.”
“When?”
“Yesterday,” I replied. “When you showed up.”
Sean gave me a look. “You are kidding, right? You really don’t know?”
“I wouldn’t ask if I knew, babe.” I brushed a kiss over his nose and enjoyed the way he softened into me.
“I don’t like Kevin.”
I frowned. “You don’t? Why not? Did he say something to you?”
Sean rolled his eyes. “No. Because he was always all over you. It was annoying as hell.”
Oops.“Ah. That.”
“What do you mean, ‘ah, that’—you knew he wanted to get with you?”
I slowly nodded, rubbing my hands up and down his back to keep him calm. “Yeah. That was actually why he came over, apparently.”
“And you let him in?” Sean asked, voice going high in the way it always did when he started to get worked up.
“I didn’t know that’s what he wanted to talk about when he showed up,” I reassured him. “I never looked at him as anything other than a friend. Plus, I told him you and I were together and there was no chance for him and me. I think he took it well enough.”
I could see Sean still wanting to say more, though eventually, his smugness won out. I couldn’t even be mad since I felt pretty smug myself, having gotten him into bed with me.
“Well, as long as he knows for sure you’re off the market.”
I nodded. “He does. We probably won’t see much of each other for a long while.”
Sean pursed his lips. “Better not. Might have to show him exactly how we handle people that don’t take a hint.”
“I should probably be concerned that you are plotting violence, but I kind of like it.”
“Don’t get used to it,” Sean replied. A hand gripped my hip as a leg pushed between mine. “Besides, once I get a ring on you, it’s all downhill from there.”
“I somehow doubt that,” I replied, leaning in to kiss the smile from his face. These kisses, slow and sensual, always burned through me like wildfire, and I didn’t care that it had taken years to get here. The wait was worth it. “I plan on making people choke on our happiness for a damn long time.”
Sean’s laughter was like the warmest breeze on a cold day, and I enjoyed the way it slid over me. My stomach clenched, and I felt the hunger that always seemed to simmer just below the surface rear its head.
“What time do you need to leave to get to work?” I asked as I gripped the back of his neck and shifted over to press him against the bed.
“If I can borrow some clothes, not until eleven.”
“You can borrow whatever you want,” I said between my biting kisses. “After I take you apart.”
“I do so love when you show your teeth,” he whispered as he pulled me in.
