Page 76 of Cups of You

Benjamin had to take a deep breath to calm himself down as Amber turned around and began untying her apron. Outside of a couple one-night stands right after his divorce was finalized; he hadn’t been intimate with anyone in nearly a year. The fantasies and teasing phone conversations had been thrilling, but they were nothing compared to having Amber in his arms. It was like every part of him was super charged with nerves and even her hands in his hair had sent jolts of pleasure down his spine. If not for the tightness of his jeans, he might’ve sported more than a grin right then.

“You coming?”

Fuck, I hope so.

He focused back on Amber, and she was standing to his side again. Her apron was on the counter and she was looking at him with a gaze so heated he almost said fuck it and grabbed her again. But he had some self-control. He untied his own apron and dropped it on the counter. The dough was a lost cause, and he swept the whole thing into the trash. It was then he got an idea.

“Let’s go through the front instead.”

He walked over to her and reached out to grab her hand. When he felt her fingers twine between his, Benjamin couldn’t help but bring their hands up and brush a kiss over her knuckles. The smile he got in response sent his heart soaring. It was a smile he wanted to see forever.

“Why?”

He turned off the back lights as they walked to the front of the café. He paused at the register and pulled a sign out from underneath the counter before gesturing for Amber to continue to the door. Benjamin put up the sign and opened the door to let them out.

“I’m taking tomorrow off.” He closed the door with a smile. It was the second Saturday in a row and though he might miss out on the money, he found he didn’t care. Benjamin’s priorities had changed, and it was time he made time for other important things in his life. When he looked back at Amber, her smile was knowing, and she held her hand out to him.

“Oh? Do you have some important plans?”

He took her hand and pulled her against him. “You.”

“Good answer.”

The walk back around the building to Benjamin’s car took longer than normal as they both couldn’t seem to get enough of feeding each other kisses.

Being pushed against a wall was a new experience to Benjamin but his blood sang as it was followed up with a soft bite to his bottom lip and a kiss that nearly made him forget his name.

He wasn’t sure how they finally made it to his car without saying laws be damned and having it out on the street, but somehow, they managed to get in the car and start for home.

Amber’s hand rested on his inner thigh and he could feel it like a brand. She would occasionally squeeze, and his cock would jump underneath the restrictive fabric. The twenty minutes it took to drive them to his house was almost his undoing and Amber’s smug expression let him know she knew exactly how she was affecting him. When he parked the car, he chuckled when her hand squeezed one more time before sliding away.

“Tease.”

Her smile was more teeth than anything and it made him hustle from the car not caring if he remembered to lock the damn thing or not. As soon as they were in the house and the front door was locked behind them, Benjamin let himself give in to the passion he had barely managed to keep at bay.

He ran his hands over Amber’s skin. Her arms felt like the softest of butters, silky smooth and warm to the touch. He closed his eyes and took in a deep breath as he felt fingers slide through the hair of his beard.

Like this, with his hands as his sight, the moment had an almost ethereal quality and he let them glide down until they found themselves under the silky fabric of her shirt and resting on her back. He had to lean down slightly to account for their differences in height and it put him at the right angle to feel heated breath brush over his face.

“I always find myself staring at your freckles,” Amber said softly. “It’s like you’re dusted with cinnamon.”

Benjamin chuckled. “I always feel like they make me look like a child.” He opened his eyes immediately locking on hers. Amber’s lips were parted slightly, and he didn’t stop himself from zeroing in on her bottom lip that shone lightly. How was he supposed to resist this and why had he even been trying to?

“No. They’re fascinating.”

“That’s not a word I usually hear when people talk about them.”

“People are idiots,” she replied. Amber’s fingers brushed over the bridge of his nose and Benjamin leaned in chasing their touch. Everything in him was screaming ‘more’ and ‘don’t stop’. It made him forget to be gentle and his fingers held tighter for a moment before he remembered to ease up.

“Sorry.”

“For what?”

He rubbed his palms over her back delighting in her soft shiver. “For forgetting to be gentle.”

Amber frowned and tilted her head. “When weren’t you gentle?”

“My hands,” he said awkwardly trying to figure out how to explain. “I didn’t mean to grip at you.”
