"Uhm, hello?" I asked, confused and tired.
"Do you need help?" she offered her hand.
I didn't want to be rude, so I gave her my hand, and I got inside.
"I tried to knock..." I tried to explain, but she saw right through it.
"We have a doorbell as well," she said. "I didn't hear any."
"Oh, I didn't try any bell," I said, feeling confused and exhausted. "Is Thalia here?" I asked.
Lotta sat down on Thalia's bed, tapping the sheets gently to signal for me to sit next to her, but I wanted to stay afar. I just needed to see her.
"I know what you've been doing to her, Tristan," she said. "I know you've been sneaking in here ever since she got here."
I sat down, my legs betraying me.
"Why are you really here?" she asked.
"You saw the cops. Are you hiding her?" I asked, trying to see how she would react.
Lotta stood up, placing a finger on my temple.
"You know she did something," she whispered, tapping my chest. "But what does your heart tell you?"
"Where is she, Lotta?" I shouted.
"Which one?" she mumbled.
"Tell me now, or I swear..." my breathing quickened as I stood up.
"You will never know," she said. "I won't let you have Thalia."
"Why do you keep her hidden?" I asked, afraid of the answer, but she gave me more than I asked for.
"You know the answer to it," she laughed, walking to the bathroom and throwing my shirt, stained with blood, at my face.
My face turned red with anger, and I clutched that shirt in my hand as if I was going to choke the life out of it. Words escaped my mouth with rage, "I will burn her, but you will burn along with her."
"I will be waiting for you," Lotta said mockingly, adding, "Shadow."
I turned around, and jumped out of the window, my knees hitting the ground as I ran back to the house.
Christian waited for me at the bottom of the stairs, his eyes red from tears. In his hand was yet another paper with Sophie's name on it.
"She was pregnant," he said, taking a sip of whiskey. "With him," he barely managed to say.
I walked towards him, snatching the paper from him. The bloody shirt fell to the floor as my eyes scanned the crumpled paper.
Diary Entry:
He arrived last week, and as I saw him, my heart skipped a beat. All this time with Christian was just a memory when I saw him. He sailed all the way across the ocean to find me; he promised that it would be only two of us, and the stars, and the sky. And I promised him I would go with him.
But today I found out I am pregnant. I know it's his; I know it from my heart, as I haven't been close to Christian since he arrived here. But when I told him, he was like another man. He wasn't the same old Teddy as he was before.
With all the money Mom and Dad left me, I bought a small boat I named Sophie, after me, of course, and I know Tristan would be pissed if he found out about it as he saved all of it for my university, but I don't care. I will go after him; I will go after my Teddy.
I don't know still how to tell Tristan, or Christian, so all of this will be my secret.
