“You make me so happy, Madison.”

“You make me happy, too.”

He slipped the ring on my finger and I smiled at its simplicity. He knew me so well. It was a large, round diamond encircled in a single row of smaller diamonds in an antique setting. It was perfect. “I want to get married on New Year’s at midnight so we can start every year off by celebrating our love.”

“I never knew you were such a romantic.” I poked him in the ribs with my elbow.

He pulled me into his arms and held me close. “I can be very romantic.”

“New Year’s sounds perfect. That gives us a year. Plenty of time to plan a wedding.”

He stepped back with his hands on my hips. His expression turned serious. “No, not next year. This New Year’s. I want to get married next week.”

“Next week!” My mouth dropped. There was no way I heard him correctly. “We can’t plan a wedding in a week.”

A mischievous grin covered his face as he pulled me into his body. “Sure we can. We can do whatever we want. And I don’t want to wait another year to make you my wife.”

When he looked at me like, I was powerless to object. This man loved me, and I loved him. It was past time for us to start this next journey of our lives anyway. “Okay, let’s get married next week.”

He kissed me. I heard mumbling behind me and the clap of hands, but I the actual words were lost to me. In this moment, there was only Logan, my future husband.
