“Oh, God!” he exclaims, but in a good way.

From there, we rock and thrust against each other, and it almost feels like no time has passed. Sure, our bodies have changed with age, but our connection sure hasn’t dulled.

When I’m getting closer to climax, he pushes himself up and applies steady, powerful blows against my body.

“Oh, my God,” I say between panting and moaning.

Eventually, he grazes my arms up and down before holding them against the door’s handle.

“You see that, Addie? I’m yours. I’m completely yours,” he growls into my ear. “Say it!”

“You’re mine, Hayden.” The words feel like a gorgeous symphony coming from my lips.

“And?”

“And?” I raise my head momentarily.

He just smiles. “And you’re mine.”

“Oh.” I lie back down and close my eyes. “Yes. I’m yours.”

Somehow, that sentence seems to make him even harder inside of me, and he continues his delicious attack.

Like the gentleman he is, he allows me to come first. Although, I’m not sure how he prolonged his longevity. But finally, it seems as though he can’t hold back any longer, and after releasing sexy, guttural grunts, he moans loudly before collapsing against my chest.

Holy shit.I can’t believe I just let him take me in the back of his car, in broad daylight. Except, I am also grateful that one of us was thinking clearly, and he stopped things and moved us to a more covert location. God knows, an old biddy or other passerby could have easily called the police on us. And getting the cops involved would’ve made this rendezvous more scandalous and much less sexy.

When he finally raises up and meets my gaze, he has an adorably goofy look and a light sheen of sweat on his face.

“That was amazing,” he comments before sliding out and resting on his side next to me. This necessitates me scooting over a bit and hanging off the seat a little, but I don’t mind. The closenessof him is all that I want at this moment. “Was it good for you?” he asks, gliding his fingers along my jaw line.

“Yes.”

He grins from ear to ear. “Good.”

I know that we probably should move, but I can’t for the life make my body start making its way up. Instead, I just want to lie there in his arms forever. Every nerve ending feels a buzz from his touch.

So, I succumb to my desires and curl up next to him, my chin perfectly propped against the crook of his neck.

Maybe trying is enough sometimes.

Chapter thirty

Addie

Ever since that fatefulmorning in the parking lot of that dingy warehouse, I’ve felt a sense of peace and security.

Adding to that are the little texts he sends me throughout the day, like:“Never forget. You’re mine, and I’m yours. xoxo, Hayden,”or“No matter what happens, we’re in this together. I got you.”

Now, none of that changes or mends the fact that Luna is still completely in the dark about who her real father is. But I’m hoping to get that cleared up very soon. And as far as the therapist he sprung on me goes, I am going to be looking to him for guidance on that front. We can’t get this wrong. It isn’t an option.

Moreover, my recent dalliance with Hayden also doesn’t alter the fact that I have an established life, with or without himin it, that I need to keep living. That means waking up at the crack of dawn to get Luna up and ready for bed, dropping her off at school, and just being an attentive mother to an outgoing, energetic, 7-year-old girl.

But once mommy duty is over, at least for the time-being, I wave Luna off as she walks into the brick building and then call Randall up right away.

“Hello?” His voice sounds sleepy. Although, it’s not like I can blame him. I only have one child, and I can’t imagine how frustrating and time-consuming all of his kids must be.

“Hello. This is Addie—Addie Flores.”
