“Hmm.” Rachel leans in and kisses me. “I think I’d be a fool to walk away from you, Logan.”
THIRTY-SIX
Rachel
“We should move in together. Before I leave.” Logan is snuggled up against me with his eyes closed after another round of mind-blowing sex. With his face practically buried in my hair, I’m not sure I heard him right.
“What?”
This time, he leans up on his elbow and looks me in the eyes. “What do you think about us moving in together. Before I deploy.”
“You want to live together?”
“Yes. I want to wake up next to you in my bed every day and know that Piper is across the hall.”
“I… Well… I’m not quite sure what to say. That’s a lot of commitment for a guy that said he wasn’t into kids, not all that long ago.”
“That guy was an idiot, and he didn’t know Piper either.” He kisses my cheek. “Besides, I could use someone to look after the house and the kittens while I’m gone.”
I try best not to get defensive. “You sure you’re not asking because you’re leaving and feel, I don’t know, guilty?
“No. And that’s not what I meant by needing someone to look after things while I’m gone. I promise.” He sits up and scoots back against the headboard, taking me with him. “I honest to goodness want us to live together. It doesn’t have to be now if you’re not ready. I can even get one of the guys to take care of things. The only thing I need is to know you’ll be waiting when I get back.”
“I will. I don’t know what’s got you convinced otherwise, Logan. I’m going to be here. Let me think on the moving in thing. It’s a big commitment. I don’t want you to think for a second that that means I don’t want to. I think we both should sit on that idea for a little bit. We haven’t even spent the night together with Piper around. This would be a big change for her, too.”
“Okay.” He sounds defeated but smiles anyway.
“Hey.” I poke his side. “I want you to know something.”
“Hmm?”
“I love you.” There. I said it. Now he knows, it’s out in the open, and I don’t have to hold back those three words anymore.
Logan kicks the sheets off our naked bodies and sits me directly on top of his hips, pushing his hard cock inside me. “I love you, too.”
“Oh, God.” Using his hands on my waist to direct me, I ride him as he thrusts upward. It feels too good, and I don’t want to stop, but there’s one more question I need an answer. “Wait!” I pant.
Logan freeze. “What is it?”
“That hickey I gave you, by accident that night at the bar.”
“Rachel,” he warns, flexing his hips.
“Is that considered destruction of government property?”
He laughs, his cock jumps, and I can’t fight back the moan.
“Who the fuck told you that bullshit?” he asks, quickly flipping me on my back and pounding into me again.
“Gunner.”
“I’m going to make you forget everything he’s ever said to you, starting right now.”
By the time he’s done, I can barely remember my own name, let alone any of the crazy things his friends have told me.
“One more thing,” he kisses my bare shoulder and traces over my skin.
Almost asleep, I crack open my eyes, “Are you going to let me rest?”
