Just like he told me to.
Who’d have ever thought I could be such an obedient girl?

STELLA
Asharp, throbbing pain pierces through my skull as I slowly open my eyes. The room swims in front of me, and a groan escapes my lips as I struggle to sit up on Anastasia’s couch. My head feels like it’s being squeezed in a vice, the result of one too many drinks last night. With trembling hands, I rub my temples, trying to alleviate some of the discomfort.
What was I thinking?
“Morning, sunshine,” Anastasia says as she enters the room, her voice full of concern. She holds a steaming cup of coffee in one hand and a bottle of aspirin in the other. “Here, drink this. It’ll help with your hangover.”
“Thanks,” I mumble, taking the cup from her. What I wouldn’t give for a little relief right now. But part of me knows I deserve this pain after letting myself get so out of control last night.
Anastasia pops the cap off the aspirin and shakes out two pills into her palm. “Take these, too,” she instructs, handing them over.
“God, you’re a lifesaver, Ana,” I say, swallowing the pills down with a gulp of coffee. The bitterness of the drink is strangely comforting, and I can already feel my headache beginning to subside. “You don’t look hungover at all.”
She waves her hand at me, dismissively. “Come on now…I’ve been doing this since middle school. I can hold my alcohol.”
I groan. “I’m jealous.”
“Are you okay?” Anastasia asks, her eyes filled with worry. “You really did a number on yourself, last night. That’s so unlike you.”
“You’re the one who told me to!”
She laughs. “I didn’t think you actually would.”
“Definitely not my finest moment,” I admit, cradling the coffee cup between my hands. “I appreciate you taking care of me, though.”
A sigh escapes me as I sink back into the cushions, taking another cautious sip. The world seems to be slowly coming back into focus, and I can feel coherence returning to my thoughts.
“What are best friends for?”
My gaze drifts to my phone lying on the floor. It must have slipped from underneath the pillow at some point during the night. I reach out and pick it up, running my fingers over the cool glass screen. A notification flashes, and I see Paul’s name popup. My heart skips a beat, and I can’t help but feel a mix of anticipation and nervousness as I tap the message open.
It’s a new day to think about all the things I can do to that sexy body of yours. Don’t forget to tell me your sober answer.
My fingers tremble as I scroll through the messages exchanged with Paul the previous night. With each passing moment, my eyes widen in shock. The steamy and flirtatious nature of our conversation becomes apparent, and I can’t help but feel a mixture of excitement and guilt.
So, it hadn’t just been a dream.
I’m happy it wasn’t.
“Stella? What’s got your attention?” Anastasia asks, her curiosity piqued. “Your entire face is red.”
“Nothing,” I reply quickly, trying to sound casual. “Just… some texts from last night.”
Anastasia leans in, her gaze intent on catching a glimpse of the messages displayed on my phone screen. Panicked, I hastily hide the device behind my back, feeling embarrassed and unsure of how to explain the situation.
She’d given me permission to reach out to her brother, but I wasn’t sure how Anastasia would feel if she’d known we’d been sexting… not to mention, I’m sure she didn’t know about the dominant side her brother had.
A side that was calling me more than I cared to admit.
“Hey, why are you hiding your phone?” Anastasia teases, one eyebrow raised. “We don’t have secrets from each other. Is there something juicy going on?”
“Ana, really, it’s nothing,” I insist, attempting to brush off her inquiries. If I thought that was going to be enough to appease her though then clearly I didn’t know my best friend.
