“Stop moving and listen. I get it. I didn’t like being tied up just now, unable to free myself. And I know you don’t want to be trapped here, unable to leave whenever you want.”
A little of the tension left her body, but she didn’t completely relax against him.
“No one likes being kept against their will,” she muttered.
“I know. I get it, Rosa. I really do. And I think I have a solution to our situation that will make both of us happy.”
“What is it?”
“Do you promise to listen with an open mind?”
“I make no promises.”
“Then I’m sticking to the original plan. You’re never leaving here.”
“Okay!” she shouted. “I’ll listen with an open mind. What is it?”
Orazio hoped his new proposition was one she’d accept because her little kidnap attempt had only proven what he’d already suspected. This woman was perfect for him. And he wanted her, all of her, her body, her mind, and her heart. He wanted her to belong to him and only him. Because he already belonged to her and only her.
Chapter Fourteen
ORAZIO

“I can walk,” Monique told him. “You don’t have to carry me to the room.”
“You may try to run away if I put you down,” Raz replied, holding her against him as he carried her to his bedroom and placed her on the bed.
“Where can I run to?” she asked, pouting.
“I don’t know. To the window to tell the window washers you’ve been kidnapped.”
Seated on the edge of his bed, she folded her arms over her chest and rolled her eyes at him.
“It’s not like they’d help me anyway. I’m starting to believe the rumors about your family are true. Maybe you allarein cahoots with the mob.”
Raz chuckled. In cahoots with the mob? Theywerethe mob. But that was an argument for another day. He sat down on the bed next to her. She scooted over. He scooted closer to her. She scooted over again.
This time, when he scooted closer, he told her, “Wherever you go, I’ll follow. If you keep scooting away, you’re going to fall on the floor.”
“At least I’d be away from you.”
“You won’t. I’d follow you down.”
She turned her beautiful brown gaze on him. “Is there any way for me to be rid of you?”
Ouch!“Yes,” he told her.
“How?” her eyes widened, hope blooming in her gaze.
“You can kill me.”
That hope faded fast.
“Don’t tempt me,” she muttered, eyeing him angrily.
Why shouldn’t I tempt you when you tempt me just by breathing?
