“Are you coming?” she asked.
Was it his naughty mind, or did her words have a double meaning? She winked.Yes, yes, the fuck they did.The doors began to shut. He placed one foot forward, preventing them from closing.
As they eased open, he stepped into the elevator. He continued forward, eyes on her. She held his stare, gaze never wavering. With one hand at her side and the other clutching her purse, she continued to meet his stare.
As he neared her, she tried to take a step back. Her smile wavered when she realized there was nowhere for her to go. Backpressed against the wall, she lifted her chin. The challenge and defiance in her gaze only made him burn for her more.
He stopped once he was standing toe to toe with her. Behind them, the doors shut, closing them into the small space of the elevator. Finally, they were alone. Once the T floor was chosen, the doors wouldn’t open again until they’d reached his floor. He now had hisroseall to himself. No one would dare disturb them tonight. Or tomorrow night. Or the next night.
Orazio Cattaneo finally had his Rose.
Chapter Four
ORAZIO
––––––––
In the past, he’d always thought this particular elevator was slow. Because of work or family issues, he was always in a rush to get where he needed to be. Therefore, he avoided this elevator as much as possible.
Tonight, it had been the closest top-floor elevator to him and Monique, which was the only reason he’d taken it. Now that he was on it, he was thankful for its slowness. He needed a moment to regain his composure.
Monique took a deep breath and released it slowly. His gaze dropped to her chest. Everything about this woman was perfect.
“You never told me where this elevator takes us,” she whispered.
“You never told me the name you’ve been calling me in your head,” he countered.
“Oh, right. Hey, eyes up here, mister.”
Smiling, he obeyed. She frowned.
“What’s wrong?” Raz asked.
“When you were staring at my, um, breasts, you had a captivated expression on your face.”
“Did I? Did you not like it?”
“That’s not it. It’s just... When you stared into my eyes, that look didn’t leave. You still look captivated.”
“That’s because every part of you captivates me.”
“Really?” She cocked her head to the side.
“You don’t believe me?” Raz questioned.
Her shoulders lifted in a shrug. “I don’t know.”
Had her ex broken her confidence down so severely that she didn’t see how beautiful she was?
“You captivate me, Monique Rose. Before we go any further, I need you to understand that. Every part of you captivates me.”
He didn’t think he’d ever been this captivated before. He didn’t know if this feeling was good or bad.
“You captivate me also. But you still haven’t told me where T takes us.”
She gifted him a slight smile. He chuckled. She was still on that.
“And you still haven’t told me what you call me in your head,” he countered.
