Page 90 of Savage Bosses

Emir snickered. “I created your task list, Ms. Dubois. Hopefully, you’ve been a professional long enough to understand that he who tasks you is your boss. Even if my father were here, you’d ultimately be accountable to me, so please spare us both the dramatics.

Selene was speechless and fuming. But Emir didn't give her a chance to respond; instead, he filled the silence.

“Now that we have settled the question of who’s the boss. I’ll take you to your workspace; I have a meeting in five minutes.”

Selene sighed, knowing it wouldn't be life if anything went to plan. The kind man who hired her had a stroke, and his asshole son, who she let fuck her brains out, was her new boss.

She couldn’t make this shit up if she tried.

Mentally, she put her big girl panties on and managed a nod. “Yes, please do. I’d like to start knocking things off that massive to-do list you just gave me. I never miss a deadline.”

Emir’s raised eyebrows piqued her interest; he seemed surprised by her answer. Did he think she’d quit because of his ridiculous demands?

Was that his plan?

He’d soon learn Selene Dubois was the true savage between them.

CHAPTER 3

Reaction

E

mir quietly cursed himself as he walked to his non-existent meeting.

His meet and greet with Selene Dubois didn't go as planned.

He was supposed to lay the groundwork for her to quit; instead, he saw a competitive gleam in her eye. Somehow, she had managed to misconstrue his demands as a challenge instead of an invitation to leave.

It was a game, and she wouldn’t let him beat her.

Damn, he loved that.

Flopping down on his office’s leather couch, he loosened his tie, laid back, and rubbed his eyes. He needed to regroup and figure out his next steps.

After his father dropped the bomb of Selene’s arrival two days ago, he spent most of the evening knocking back shots of Macallan 18 and plotting how he’d get rid of Selene and simultaneously kill his father’s plans to fulfill the World Bank contract.

First, he would ignore Selene and make her feel unwanted and forgettable. Then, he would methodically undermine every part of her work until his father lost faith in her abilities and the project. When the project was canceled, he’d help her find a new job and provide a reference.

He wasn’t a complete monster.

Now, his plans and timeline were jeopardized. Last night, he got a call from his sister Asha saying that Baba was being rushed to the hospital. He’d had a stroke, and that news devastated him.

Emir visited him in the ICU before coming into the office, and seeing his father sedated and hooked up to machines monitoring his vital signs was almost too much. Despite their differences, Emir and his father were close. Doctors were cautiously optimistic that he would fully recover, which satisfied Emir enough to go to work.

Asha reminded him that It’s what his father would have demanded of him.

Even though his father requested it, he never planned to take Selene on a welcome tour. He’d planned to ditch work and see her on his own terms.

It was obvious to him that his father planned to leverage Selene to get Emir to do what he wanted. Emir needed to distance himself from her until he was desensitized enough not to be manipulated by his father.

Facing her head-on today shook him.

Selene came dressed to kill in a battle she was unaware of. Her red wrap dress hugged all her copper-toned curves like a tight caress. Peeks of the highlighted brown skin at her cleavage made him salivate. Emir never liked his women skinny, and Selene was definitely his type. Thick-thighed, plump-assed, and full-breasted. Her eyes are a heady and seductive shade of dark brown. Her lips were painted a deep burgundy, the color of sweet wine; her hair was tightly braided and twisted into an updo. In his mind, she radiated an aura like a full moon on a cloudless night.

He had to do something to shake her and fast. His dick was still semi-hard from when she momentarily grabbed his elbow.

The last woman that affected him like this ended up breaking his heart. Nina Garcia was supposed to be his wife. Instead, she became the biggest mistake of his life. It would have been worse if his father hadn’t intervened.
