“I was about to leave. I can take you home,” Jason offered.

“No, thank you. We took an Uber together and…”

“Look, I’m one of your major clients and I promise my driver will take you straight home,” he said as he put his hands up in defeat.

Deja looked over at Olivia.

“And I promise to make sure your friend gets home safely.” Caleb said as he looked at Olivia.

“Olivia, can I talk to you in private?”

They walked over to the other side, out of earshot of the two men. “Liv, this doesn’t feel right. That man is one of my bosses.”

“But he’s not my boss and I’m really feeling him. If you don’t feel comfortable having Jason drop you off, then we can leave now.” Olivia said with pleading eyes.

Deja knew Olivia wanted to stay. “You are going to owe me big for this…” Olivia gave her a hug. “And please don’t fuck my boss.”

“Girl, I can’t promise that. If the opportunity presents itself and it feels right, I’m going to be all in that.” She said with a devilish smile as they walked back to the table.

Deja smiled at Jason. “Thank you, Jason. I will take you up on the offer for a ride and I guess I will see you on Monday, Caleb.”

“Text me when you get home.” Olivia smiled before directing her attention back to Caleb.

“Likewise, you do the same,” Deja said to her.

“It was nice meeting you and I will see you on Monday.”

Jason and Deja walked out of the restaurant into a waiting car.

They continued with casual conversation until his driver pulled up in front of Deja’s home.

“I hope when I’m in town again you will let me take you out to dinner.” He said as he walked her to her door.

“I would like that,” she said with a genuine smile. “Provided there aren’t rules against going out with clients.”

“I think we’ll be okay. It was nice meeting you Ms. Deja Rose.” He said as he kissed her hand. “And good luck with the new job.”

“Thank you,” she said before walking through the door. She watched him get back into the car before closing and locking it... She leaned against the inside door before pushing off it and texting Olivia that she was home.

Deja showered and got into the bed when she heard her phone buzz.

“I’m not home, but I’m where I’m going to be for the night. Love you. Call you in the morning. ??

Deja shook her head and smiled. Olivia never had a problem with seeing what she wanted and going after it. She dosed off, wishing she could be more like her.

eja stood outside the Farrow Corporation building. Her heart was beating fast with a mixture of excitement and anxiety. She couldn't believe it; she had finally graduated with a master’s degree in marketing and was now about to start her career at one of the most prestigious corporations in the city.

As Deja pushed open the heavy glass doors, she took a deep breath and rubbed her hands down her navy-blue pencil skirt that matched her fitted blazer. Her long, wavy black hair was pulled tight in a ponytail, highlighting her warm brown eyes that were filled with determination. The cool air-conditioning sent a shiver down her spine. She tried to shake the queasy feeling in her stomach as she walked across the large, well-lit lobby.

“First day?” A voice interrupted her thoughts, causing her to jump. Her gaze met Stephen Farrow's piercing blue eyes. He stood tall and imposing, his dark hair perfectly styled, and his tailored suit accentuated his well-built frame.

“Y-yes,” Deja stammered, feeling her cheeks heat up as she mustered a confident smile. “I'm Deja Rose, the new marketing executive.”

“Welcome to Farrow Corporation, Ms. Rose,” Stephen said curtly, his eyes narrowing ever so slightly as he pressed the button to the twentieth floor. “I expect great things from you.”
