Now, Porsha and I were on the set of Good Morning, Houston, as we were promoting Porsha’s debut book, Everlasting Love. This was the same book that she introduced to me a year ago, in which she was finally able to finish. Honestly, I felt the story was a homage to our relationship, minus Porsha walking out on me and the entire Renee situation. But it was the about us and being in love, then and now.
“We are here to celebrate the release of Oxford’s newest release from debut author Porsha Baxter. Congratulations are in order for you, Porsha, because I have to admit, this was a great story,” the host, Renisha Thompson, said to Porsha.
“Thank you so much, Renisha. I’m truly proud of this story.”
“Now, some people may not know, but you and Remy are in fact a couple. So, I have to ask, isEverlasting Loveabout your relationship?”
Porsha blushed. “That’s something readers will have to determine for themselves.”
Renisha smiled. “Okay, I see where you went with that. But before we talk more about the book, Mr. Delgado does have an announcement for you, Porsha, as well for as the viewers. Remy, the floor is yours.”
I smiled. “Thank you, Renisha.”
I looked at Porsha as I reached for her hands. “Porsha, when I first laid eyes on you almost 14 years ago, I knew then that you were going to be my wife. You are everything that I want in a woman: smart, funny, creative, ambitious, and extremely beautiful. You stole my heart then and you still doing that to me now.”
“Remy…”
“When things took a turn years ago, I didn’t think we would get a second chance. Hell, I didn’t think I would get one now, but we decided to give things another chance and look where we are now. Our relationship is stronger than ever and I would want nothing more than for us to continue our journey together, but as husband and wife.”
“What?”
I glanced over at the audience to see Porsha’s and my family seated on the first row. They were beaming as I glanced back at Porsha.
“What are you doing, Remy?” Porsha whispered.
“I’m doing what is right. I’m ready to be your husband if you’re ready to be my wife.”
Porsha was stunned as I took out a black ring box from my pocket and got up to bend down on one knee.
“Porsha Baxter, will you marry me?”
Porsha was in tears as she had her hands over her mouth. She looked at me as I held the ring box up. I was a little nervous because Porsha hadn’t said anything. I think she was still in shock.
“I hope that answer is a yes, Porsha, because Remy look kind of nervous,” Renisha said with a chuckle.
I glanced back at our families, who were also holding their breaths. “Don’t keep me hanging, baby. We are on TV,” I joked, but I was really getting nervous.
“Remy, you don’t know how long I wanted you to say those words to me.”
“So, is that a yes?”
“Of course, baby. Yes, I’ll marry you!”
“Yes!”
As the audience cheered, I got up to pick her up. She squealed as I put her down to put her engagement ring on her ring finger, which was my grandmother’s ring. My dad wanted me to have it in honor of Abuela. She always seen the love Porsha and I had for each other and, before she passed, she wanted Porsha to wear it in memory of her.
“Oh wow, is this…” I nodded, as she gave me a hug. “I will never take this off.”
“I hope not.”
As the audience continued clapping and cheering, I blocked out the noise and focused my attention on Porsha. She looked radiant at the moment as she told me she loved me.
It had been a rough year for Porsha and me as we had to work out our differences. I never thought in my wildest dreams that she would come back to me, but I was grateful that she did, and now, she would be Mrs. Porsha Delgado.
I was glad that our love was strong enough to get past the toughest decisions. Even though it was complicated and messy, I was blessed that we were finally happy, and I couldn’t wait to have a wonderful and bright future with the love of my life.
The End
