“So, you let my mother bribed you!”
“It’s not what you think.”
“Oh, please, enlighten me on the real reason why you did it, Porsha?!”
I really didn’t have a reason for why I did it. My parents couldn’t afford the surgery since it wasn’t covered on my dad’s insurance, Ms. Reeves found out about it and she bribed me to leave her son, so my dad’s surgery could be paid for. I knew it sounded horrible, but I had to do what was necessary to save my father’s life.
“I did it because my father was dying.”
“Which I get, but Porsha, you could have talked to me about it. Now, I have to wonder, if you lied about this, what else were you lying about in our relationship?”
I sighed as I looked at the wall, speechless because Remy knew way before I could say anything. “How long have you known?”
“Does it matter?”
“I would like to know.”
“You don’t have the right to ask me questions when you were wrong.”
“Can you please tell me that?”
“I’ve known since you left town. Like I said, I didn’t believe your story.”
“You knew all this time and didn’t say anything?”
Were you even going to tell me? Because it looks like you weren’t.”
“I was struggling with telling you.”
“Well, you don’t have to.”
“We just slept together, Remy.”
“Yeah, and it was good.”
I pulled the covers over myself, feeling dirty over what just happened. How could he be so nonchalant about everything when we just reconnected? I knew our reunion was going to be short lived, but I did feel something during those moments.
“So, you’re saying what just happened didn’t mean anything to you?”
“Of course it did, Porsha. I’m going to always have feelings for you but, honestly, I don’t know if I can trust you.”
I got up and grabbed my clothes. Remy sat up and sighed. “I don’t understand why you’re upset over what happened. You the one caused this so, now, you have to face the consequences.”
“Which I understand, but please don’t be mad over something that wasn’t my fault. My dad was sick and I didn’t know what else to do.”
“You had choices, Porsha, so don’t even give me that bullshit.”
“It was my father, Remy.”
“Which I could have helped if you had just talked to me.”
“I didn’t want to worry you, Remy.”
“We were together, Porsha. Whatever your problems are, are mines as well. That’s one important thing about being in a relationship, which you don’t understand because you would have been truthful with me and told me what my mom was doing.”
“But she was the problem.”
Remy shook his head. “She may have been, but you were part of the problem too, since you let her control you.”
