“The book is about to be released soon…”
“Oh, let the two go. They showed their faces, so that all that matters,” Abuela said as she gave us both a hug. “I’m still so happy you two are back together.”
“Thank you, Abuela. We will make sure to come visit you soon.”
“I hope so. Good night.”
We smiled, as I hugged my family. Chandra glanced at Porsha as she slowly hugged her. I could tell it wasn’t genuine, as the two didn’t even look at each other.
We walked to the parking lot towards my car when I opened the door for Porsha. I watched her get in before closing it and going to mine. Once I did, the questions I wanted to ask began.
“What’s wrong with you and Chandra?”
“What do you mean?”
“You both were acting cold towards each other. What happened in the restroom? I’m sure it had something to do with my mom.”
“I mentioned we ran into her, which reminds me, did you want to say good night to your mom?”
“I’ll give her a call tomorrow since she’ll be in town for a few days. Now, I want to know what’s going on.”
“Nothing’s going on. It’s just a misunderstanding, that’s all.”
“About what?”
“Let’s not worry about that. It’ll blow over anyway. Right now, you said you wanted to focus on us, so let’s do that.”
“Oh, now you want to focus on us?”
“I really do.”
“You sure about this, though? Because there’s no going back.”
Porsha smiled. “Ever since we reconnected, I have thought about us being together. I thought it was wishful thinking since so much has happened, but we’re slowly getting a second chance, so I want that to happen, if you’re willing to.”
I took her hand into mine and gave it a light squeeze. “We still have a lot of work to do.”
“I know.”
“But we’re heading into the right direction.”
“You just want us to fuck.”
“What if I do?”
“I want that too.”
I smiled. “But it’s more than just that.”
“I know it is.”
“Let’s go then.”
Porsha smiled as we left the venue. I didn’t think we would be heading into this direction so soon but, honestly, I never stopped caring for Porsha. No matter how much I tried, she was always in my thoughts.
I held Porsha’s hand throughout the drive to my place. I figured it was time for her to see it. When we arrived, Porsha was amazed, as she glanced at the huge mansion in front of us.
“Wow, Remy. Your house is beautiful.”
