"Whew, I was starting to wonder if we'd ever catch a break," Braedon exhales, sounding grateful.

The conference room empties as everyone disperses to their respective offices.

"Thanks for handling that, Archer," she acknowledges.

“Handling what?"

"For uncovering the truth about Mason and letting him go."

"No problem. It was necessary."

"And for putting Grace in her place."

"Also, no problem."

"And for openly expressing your feelings for me in front of the entire team."

"We spend too many hours here not to acknowledge our feelings. I couldn't bear to hide it."

"Speaking of which, once we're off tonight, there'll be some sweet and slow rewards for all your good deeds," she promises, tightening her embrace amid the chaos we've caused.

As she promises these rewards, holding me close amidst the bustling office, I reflect on how my views on love in the workplace have drastically shifted since I first stepped into Iconic over a month ago. The woman in my arms has upended everything I believed about professionalism, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

I've cherished every single moment of this transformation, and I'm ready to embrace every moment that comes with her in the days ahead.

SOULMATES

he past two weeks have been nothing but insane pleasure. I have hardly come up for air during the time I’m not working. This morning, my mother called to check to see if I was still alive.

“Mom, all is well. I promise to come by and see you after I get off work today,” I tell her.

“Just know that if you don’t come by, then I will be sending the police out to your house for a well check. Or me and your father are coming to look for you ourselves.”

“That’s not necessary. I will come by.”

Archer sneaks up behind me in the bathroom and wraps his arms around my waist. His kisses become a distraction. “Are you sure you will make it out of this bedroom at any point today?” he whispers against my ear.

“We have to work. We have goals, remember?” I whisper back.

“What did you say, dear?” Mom asks. “Who are you talking to?”

I turn and face Archer. “It’s my amazing boyfriend, and I will tell you all about him tonight.”

“Now, you know I will come looking for you if I don’t see you this evening.”

“I promise to be there, Mom. Bye.” I hang up the phone before she starts up again about who Archer is.

“You just couldn’t be quiet, could you?”

“No. I want you back in bed.”

“I have too much work waiting for me.” I kiss his cheek and maneuver my way out of the bedroom, not before he kiss-swells my lips and rubs me all over.
