I take it from him, making quick work of the locks and opening the case. The papers are removed, and I hand them to him. "Jake was here at the hotel when I came in. He asked me questions about what you're going to do with the business. Will he keep his job?"
"From what we've seen, he's excellent at his job. He'll definitely stay on. Maybe even get a promotion. Although we'll move him stateside." Drew sits on the other side of me and frowns at the briefcase, motioning me to give it to him. I hand it over, and he makes a continuing motion.
I pick up the conversation. "What time do we leave tomorrow?"
"This time around, we'll stay an extra couple of days. I think it's time we tour the city. Do you mind seeing the Eiffel Tower again? I know you've seen it already. We can also take in a few art museums and try true French cuisine," Haddon asks, watching Drew as he inspects my briefcase.
Marsten glares at Drew. "What are you doing?"
"The Eiffel Tower needs a second look. It's like Times Square when you go to New York. You need to see it every time." I move closer to Marsten, shoving him lightly and putting my finger to my lips. For someone so smart, why doesn't he get it?
Drew lifts a small piece of something off the bottom of the briefcase, and Marsten's eyes widen. He finally gets it. "I'm going to fire everyone and close the plant."
Our heads all swivel to him. We know it won't happen. We have a detailed reorganization plan that will make them a lot of money. There will be some layoffs but not a lot. But Smarmy is the first to go. That will happen as soon as we get back to the States.
"Then we're going to absorb their clients into our home office. It will make us more money without the middleman." I relax as I figure out what he's doing.
Drew takes the microphone into the bathroom, and we hear the toilet flush. Then the water in the tub runs. He comes back into the room and grabs my briefcase again. He removes the rest of the papers and takes the briefcase into the bathroom with me running behind him. "That briefcase cost me three hundred dollars. Don't–"
Drew swirls it around in the filling tub and then lays it down in it. "I will buy you another one tomorrow while we're out. Do me a favor. Go back in the living room and shake out all those papers over the sink. Tell Haddon I said to get the safe and change the passcode. He needs to keep it to himself until tomorrow. Tell Marsten to get an electronics team in here, so we can check for more bugs."
I follow instructions. Within a few seconds, we're all doing the jobs Drew assigned us. Marsten's barking quietly into the phone. Haddon left and came back with the portable safe we carry everywhere and is currently working on changing the lock combination.
I'm shaking out the papers in the sink, and a couple of small metal balls make a pinging sound in the sink. Drew comes behind me, his arms sliding around my waist, urging me close to him and planting a kiss on my temple. "We still have us to talk about," he mumbles close to my ear. "We haven't forgotten about any of this."
I breathe in the leather citrus scent he carries, relaxing into him and enjoying the feel of him around me. "Okay." My voice comes out husky.
He reaches around me and turns on the water, plugging up the drain. "Keep on shaking." I continue to shake the papers, switching to a different stack. The sink fills, and Drew turns it off before patting my ass and strolling away.
Someone knocks on the door, and Marsten answers. A couple of guys come in, and I hear murmurs before they follow Marsten into the room. Haddon comes over to me, taking the papers out of my hand and setting them beside the sink. We move out of the way and let the men go to work. They scan every inch of the room and us. Another small ball is found on the jacket I was wearing and in my hair.
How did this fucker do all this or have it done? I wonder if the limo driver had something to do with it.
The guys leave a scanner that blocks all the electronics in the room, so we can't even use our cell phones.
"Intrigue. It looks like we got a little more than we bargained for on this trip," I say to the guys.
Haddon chuckles. "It looks like we did. Since we're safe from any electronics right now, let's talk about us."
"Okay." I lift an eyebrow. "Talk."

arsten steeples his fingers and rests his chin on them. "Last night was a turning point for us—"
"Will I get a day off now?" Tilting my head, I plant a glare on all three of them.
Marsten lifts his head higher and continues like I hadn't spoken. "As you know, we share everything, including our women. We want to share you," Marsten finishes, and the three give me an expectant look.
I frown. "I know this. Where are you going with the statement?"
"We need your permission for this. We're not cavemen, snatching you up and taking you home," Drew explains like I'm five years old. "You know us better than that."
Leaning back, I cross my arms. "What about all the other times you didn't ask me for permission? You could have done it at those times too. The fact that after last night, you still made me go with Smarmy tells me differently."
"Honestly, we didn't know the extent of what was going on when you went to those dinners. From now on, if we allow them to do it over dinner with you, one of us will be there. This isn't about work; this comes down to you and us. Do you want to be with us?" Marsten leans forward, gazing at me.
