SAVAGE BOSSES

Chapter One
"F
uck," I grumble, cracking one eye open so I can hit ignore on the phone.
Blissful silence.
Until it blares again. I immediately touch the ignore button again, and instantly, the ringing assaults my ears again. "This better be fucking good," I ground out as I put the phone to my ear.
"Where are you?" my boss Marsten growls. "You were supposed to be here an hour ago."
Closing my eyes, I sit up in the bed, leaning back against my black-cloth headboard. Not again. "I'm supposed to be off this week. Cadence is filling in for me. You know this."
"We sent her home. She wasn't cutting it," boss number two, Drew states like it's an everyday thing. Which it is. "You need to come in."
My shoulders drop, and my head falls forward. "I haven't had a day off in six months, and all three of you signed off on this a month ago. Promised it to me. Why do you keep doing this?"
"You're the only one who can do the job we need. Now get in here. In an hour, we'll be flying out, and we don't want to wait for you." Number three, Haddon's voice comes over the phone. "You can sleep on the plane. There's a bed on board. It'll take a few hours to get to Paris, and we won't bother you until we get there. Get dressed and meet us at the airport."
I shake my head. "No."
"No?" Drew's unbelieving voice comes over the line.
I square my shoulders and repeat myself, "No."
The phone clicks in my ear, and I slide back down in my bed. Letting sleep overtake me again.
I should have known better.
Shaking jolts me awake. Cracking open my eyes, I glare at Drew practically yanking me out of bed. "How did you get a key to my house?"
I'm lifted, being set on my feet. Drew bends forward, his blue eyes peering into mine. "Get dressed."
"Why is it no one I train is good enough? I teach them everything I know." I rub my eyes, before my fingers curl into fists at my side.
Marsten takes my underwear out of the drawer, setting them on the dresser. "Because they're not you. If they were, then we wouldn't have this problem."
"What did she say?" I grab a pair of panties and a bra off the two stacks Marsden has on the dresser. I sigh, watching Haddon carry my luggage out of the closet like it's something he does every day.
I need another job.
"She offered to be our next girlfriend." Haddon's smooth voice hardens as he makes my bed before setting the luggage on it. "Get in the shower, we're going to be late."
My itchy eyes widen slightly. "I thought she was a lesbian."
"Evidently not. Go." Marsten grabs my shoulders, spins me around, and gives me a light shove toward the bathroom.
Oh well. I take the few steps to the bathroom, glancing back at them before going inside. Drew picks up the phone, barking into it about our plane. Marsten neatly places the stack of underwear in the suitcase and folds the clothes Haddon is throwing in haphazardly.
My bosses.
Handsome.
